First run!

Hi everyone! I'm doing my first run today! I keep procrastinating though and can't quite get motivated enough to get up and do it! Anyone have any advice on how to motivate yourself?

Yay! 😄🥳👏🏻

You’ve already found your motivation if you’ve decided to do your first run today! 🏃‍♀️

Remember to take it really slowly 🐢🐌 it’s always about finishing the time, never about speed.

For me, the determination that I was going to finish the programme was my motivation ... & I’m sure once you start you’ll feel the same way! 🤓

Also this forum is brilliant ... I’d spend some time reading the posts / advice & you’ll very quickly feel part of the community ... that will spur you on. 🥰

Also, know you can do it ... the sense of achievement is fab! ✔️🎖🏁🥇🍾

Keep us posted!

Once you do your first run you will wonder why you didn’t do it sooner. The whole programme is great and keeps you so motivated to keep going.

Get your shoes on and do it!! And enjoy 😊

Welcome to the forum and well done on your decision..........you have decided to do this, haven't you?

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

You don't get the benefits if you don't put in the effort.

Enjoy your journey.

Go and put your trainers on now and leave the house. It really is that simple and I STILL have to talk to myself like that at times! Then come back and tell us how you found it 😊

I agree with everyone else - just do it - don’t think just do and you will be out that door and on your way to finishing your first run in just 30 mins! I started just over a week ago and am have now just finished my second week first run. I guarantee you will feel really good about yourself!

I'm a world-beating procrastinator and all I can say is if you're reading this post, please stop reading right now. Put your trainers on, go out of the door, and do it.

As Chokka notes you’ve already found the motivation to download the app, join the discussion and commit to your first run today. Look forward to hearing your next news!

Confused.

"I'm doing my first run today!" - GOOD! let us know how you get on.

" I keep procrastinating though and can't quite get motivated enough to get up and do it!"

- Errrrmmm.... not what you said above.

Are you doing it or not?

If you're NOT doing it, good luck and enjoy the rest of your non-running life.

If you ARE doing it, good luck and enjoy the rest of new RUNNING life.

Did you do it? Do it while it’s nice out. It’s not long out of your day and you’ll feel great afterwards. Maybe you’ll even decide to treat yourself!

Well done for deciding that today’s the day. I was in the same boat last week for W1R1. Even during lockdown I couldn’t quite bring myself to start the journey until last Wednesday. The forum is brilliant and people are very supportive to newbies like us. Going out for the first time was definitely the hardest so feel very proud of yourself after your first run today. 👍

Yes. It does get a bit easier. However each week is designed you push you that little bit more.

Do make sure you read the guide that IannodaTruffe gave you a link to above.

Nope it doesn’t get easier whatsoever. But you will start to look forward to each run and how great you feel when you’ve completed each challenge.

I’m the laziest so and so in the northern hemisphere. You’ve just got to grit your teeth and do it. I’m not gonna say it’s fun. But I’m actually gutted if I can’t get out three times a week now. Just do it you will surprise yourself.
