just starting running with my son,I used to run but my fitness crumbled over the last year,my son loves running and needs to build up stamina for football so we're doing the couch 2 5k together
today was just too hot!my son started struggling half way so we skipped one of the minute runs and walked until we got to the next area of shade.
next run we're going at 7am for a cooler one!

Congratulations to you and your son on starting C25K with run 1 of week 1, as it is so warm start run 2 much earlier than you did run 1, take all the runs slowly, you can repeat any runs or week's if you wish to, no running on consecutive days as that could cause a injury, drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration, good luck.
Thanks for this, I had a good read - today's run when he set of on a run at his speed I just let him go and stayed at my more comfortable slower pace, he soon slowed and we caught up, we were on a nice quiet costal road so he could go ahead safely - something I'm going to plan for in future runs
I did this with my daughter and the experience was amazing. Once you have your son’s stamina up for football can you pop to Carrington and show my team what they should be doing? 🤣
Have a wonderful journey, fitness returns quicker than it crumbles.
Huge well done, but, do wait until the weather cools.. or as you say, get out early... do follow the links given.Remember too, young ones, can outstrip us at any time , .. so as you move on...keep it slow and steady!
Looking forward to your posts... do please pop into Catch-Up Corner too and share your runs with us?
I did my couch to 5K in secret 2 years ago because my son and daughter, then 14 and 26 could both run and I was afraid they would laugh at me. Last year I ran a lovely HM with my daughter, who is generally faster than me but not used to distance so we were able to run together, and I sometimes go for runs with my son - who usually takes a football and kicks it around me in loops! Last week he came out for a run with me and couldn’t go slowly enough so completed his 5K in a ‘really slow’ 23 mins whilst I did my 3rd fastest at around 33 mins. I also did Couch to 5K with my friend’s 10 year old daughter who was overweight (so am I!) and unfit, by the end even she was faster than me! In other words, a word of warning, go at your own pace! Your son’s fitness will probably be better than yours…. And you will only enjoy it if it is comfortable.
