Yippee! For the second time..

All done! Week 9 Run 3 sorted, I’m so pleased! I started C25K again in January after not being able to run for much of last year. Rather unusually, I was accompanied today by @Coddfish who was happy to run at my (very) slow pace - apart from Parkrun I always run on my own but I really enjoyed having someone else there to chat to; and I’m still amazed I can actually run and speak at the same time! As I said, I run slowly so we covered just over 3Km - which proves that you really don’t need to worry if you don’t get to 5km at the end of the programme, many of us don’t. Just concentrate on running nonstop for 30 minutes; you can work up to 5km (and beyond!) afterwards, as I’ll be doing. Our run finished very conveniently at a cafe where we sat outside in the sunshine, still chatting! So that’s it, C25K completed for the second time , whoop whoop!

Huge Congratulations 🎉 that’s the best news!!! so easy after time off with injury to just not start again. I’m buzzing for you so you must be jumping for joy, and apart from my odd burst of speed we are still around the same pace. Very very well done to you

Thank you Sola, yes I’m pretty chuffed, although I always knew I would do it - unlike the first time round when I hadn’t a clue what was going on! So onwards and onwards from here, think it’s time to try and up my very slow gear to just a slow gear and of course work on that elusive 5km again! Happy days! Hope you’re ok and getting out in the spring sunshine!

A big congratulations to you Oldgirlruns on graduating from C25K for a second time, wow wow, fantastic, do you fancy running soon at Southsea Parkrun? 😀 🏃🏾

Oldgirlruns profile image
OldgirlrunsGraduate in reply to AlMorr

Thanks Al! I haven’t really stopped my parkrun exploits although it’s mostly been walking of late, partly when my hip was grumbling and then with Coddfish as she recovered from hip surgery and of course I’ve been volunteering as well! But yes, this weekend I’ll be running along the seafront with the rest of them, albeit at the back!

Runs that finish at cafes are the best and an excellent way to celebrate finishing. Congratulations!

Whoop whoop . Sorry for the delay in responding but I got locked out and I lost my original comment . Congratulations on graduating again after being on the IC. Pin that graduation badge back on because you are a 30 minute runner again.

How lovely to share the experience with Coddfish too. I don’t blame you putting the run off for a day; I did exactly the same.

Thanks Dexy! I had problems with the same thing earlier too so I’m glad it’s not just me! It was lovely to have Coddfish with me; my badge is back in place! I hope your 9K went ok!

Congratulations 🥳 🥳 🥳 OG!!! You’re right, the main thing is that you’ve done it, not how fast you’ve gone. One thing I have been trying to get my head around with this marathon training business, is that slow running is positively encouraged and an essential bit of training. Time on your feet is more important than distance travelled. I now have a massive appreciation for slow running - it’s really hard and tiring!! Amazingly well done 👏👏👏

Hello from another OLDgirl in the US!! I am also doing this again, did week 6 day 3 last night and when I finish it will be my 3rd time graduating! I first graduated in 2013 and got older, fatter and lazier.😆 I feel good now though and will keep my SLOWWWW running up-haha. Good for you on graduating again!

🎉🎉

Good news indeed, OGR. Such a good idea to start again rather than let running slip away, and you will already know the right approach for you to getting to 5k.I'm almost back to a straight 5k without walking after a lay-off, and it's as much about the lift it always gives afterwards for me, as the run itself. It's just too much of an effective medicine to give it up, add that to socialising with a fellow runner at the same time and it's an all round health prescription! Good luck for future enjoyable, healthy runs, best wishes ☺️

OldgirlrunsGraduate in reply to Raisemeup

Thank you so much Raisemeup! I echo everything you say about the well-being factor it gives, even if it’s a bit of a slow lumber rather than a gazelle-like run! Good luck with reaching your non-stop 5km - and beyond!
