Started this journey about 6 weeks ago after a long hiatus due to injury (military service). I am doing each week in my own time, I'm up to W5R2 because I repeated W4 twice. This was because I didn't feel comfortable going onto W5. I'm glad I did because W5R1&2 were not too bad. I have repeated W5R2 twice for the same reason. I am conscious that my injuries need to be nurtured and not stressed. In saying that I am finding the jogging extremely relaxing albeit tiring. I am not in a rush to complete the program in the set time, I just want to get to the point of jogging for 30 minutes without injury. All the other posts are very inspiring to me.
Hi, newbie here from Tropical North Queensland... - Couch to 5K
Hi, newbie here from Tropical North Queensland Australia...very hot and humid
Welcome to the forum and C25K Cairnsjogger, there is another runner on the forum from Australia, RunWillie, but she is from the southwest, near Perth I think, I am glad that you are taking all your runs slowly, to make sure you don't have any more injuries, good luck for your running journey with C25K
Welcome Cairnsjogger! Taking each week at your own pace is exactly the thing to do because that way you’ll enjoy it more. Take it really slowly and stay well hydrated. And whatever you do, don’t risk further injury by doing too much too soon! There is an ‘essential reading’ guide by Iannoda Truffe on the pinned post section of the forum which you should read - it’ll give you everything you need. And if you have questions, ask here! It’s a very supportive space so keep in touch and let us know how you’re getting on!
Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress,
Slow and steady progress is the best way to stay injury free.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.
Enjoy your journey.
Welcome! I used to know a Queenslander. He was working as the night guard at work in the late 1990s. He was from Mount Isa and was slightly mad. (The two may be linked.)
What most don't realise is that all the heavy lifting happens in Week 4, and Week 5 isn't that big a jump.
Welcome !Thank you for joining us here and well done with your progress!
Do read the guide linked to by IannodaTruffe
It's packed with helpful tips and advice to help you through the program.
Enjoy the journey!
Welcome Cairnsjogger
C25K is the best. Just take it steady and you will do great.
I’m in Perth, WA so it’s super hot here but less humid ❤️🏃♀️
Hi, I am in Townsville. I don’t post too much but still read the forum posts regularly as they keep me motivated to keep going. I started in 2020 when I was doing WFH and getting through the program gave me some goals. Good Luck with you C25K journey.
