5weeks down. 20mins without stopping. Woohoo! 😁

I've just completed week 5, something I'd have never have dreamt I could do, especially if asked 5 weeks ago. I think in my last post, I was going to repeat a run as I wasn't sure I was ready to move up a week, but I bit the bullet and carried on without repeating. Even more reason I didn't think my body would manage such a massive jump in time/distance.

Isn't the human body impressive? The human mind is too, positive thinking all the way.

A month completely smoke free and a 20 minute run.

I agree with you that the human body is very impressive, first of all well done on not smoking for a month and secondly congratulations on completing run 3 of week 5, that is a milestone run with C25K, onwards and upwards to week 6 run 1 but be careful about that run as it catches out some people with the interval walks and runs after the non stop 20 minutes of W5R3 which you have just ran πŸƒπŸΎ 😊

Thank you! 😊 and also thank you for the tip regarding the intervals. I've read that in other posts too... what it is it about the intervals that catches people out? I'm assuming pushing too hard thinking it'll be a breeze in comparison? Any tips and advice welcome, I want to make sure I don't fall into the trap 😁

"Oh it's intervals again, I can go a bit faster."

Well done on the 20 minute run. I'll bet you're telling everyone about it.

And well done too on keeping away from the smokes. Are you using any substitutes (eg. patches, vaping, gum), or did you stop "cold"?

Thank you, and yes, everyone who'll listen πŸ˜‚

I'm using a vape for now, just to keep on the straight and narrow! I'm finding it really helps.

Those are 2 things to be really proud of! You really should be proud of yourself. Quitting the ciggies is the best thing you could have done for yourself, and will always remember this run! Well done πŸ˜ƒ.

Congratulations for not repeating a run and just going for it. Many people look at that W5R3 and balk at it because it seems like such a step up. But the programme is very.cleverly designed and you are absolutely ready for it. You are right that the body is amazing in its capacity to adapt. Congrats on giving up smoking too - you will never regret it (and you could probably put the money towards something so much nicer!). :)

Thank you. I keep looking at running gear πŸ˜‚ oh well, the money won't be wasted, that's for sure!

Yes, I'm seeing every week how well the programme works. I'm constantly amazed at the steady improvement. Week 5 was such a leap but at the end of the 20 minutes I actually felt like I could have carried on a little longer, not that I would have though, I'm sticking to it 100%.

Yes, I seem to remember buying a lot of brightly-coloured running socks on my first go through! :)

Huge well done you!!! On all levels; and yes, you are correct the human body and YOU and we are incredible.

One of my favourite quotations that I use on here?

"If we did all of the things we are capable of, we would literally astound ourselves."

And we do... :)

Fantastic!! I have been thinking I might need to repeat W5 R1 and R2 but this really helps with the confidence and motivation. Thank you.

Oh I'm so pleased if it helped you, you really can do it! After the first couple of minutes, I didn't think I'd manage it, but I kept going nice and slow and steady. And as I progressed through the 20 minutes I didn't want to give up, so just kept aiming for the next thing, whether that was a physical object or the next bit of encouragement from Denise Lewis! All of a sudden she was telling me I only had two minutes left and I knew I'd do it through sheer determination at that point πŸ˜‚

So, go you! Let me know how you get on 😁 if you like we could cheer each other on through the tough ones πŸ˜‚

That's great advice, and I will remember it. Just hoping we get a couple of clear mornings this coming week. Update to follow!!

Didn't it just! I'm really looking forward to the remaining long runs now. And I didn't think I'd ever be typing that... πŸ˜‚

I remember when I did my HM thinking "there's only a parkrun left" and then having one of those "did I really just say that??" moments!

Fantastic! Well done! That is, to me, the best run of the programme. Now you really start to believe you really can do it (and you absolutely can!) πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ˜πŸ‘πŸ»
