W6R1: a fantastic enjoyable run πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ.

On Saturday I completed week 5, the longer run of 20 minutes & I really enjoyed it. I posted about it & then I was advised by many to be aware that week 6 catches some people out. So I went into it with some trepidation & wonder.

It involves 5 minute & 8 minute runs with the brisk walks in between. Let me now summarise; I thoroughly enjoyed it, it did not catch me out at all & then this left me wondering where it catches a lot of people out.

It also proved to me, what I had actually advised to someone else on here this very morning, that we are all so different & some will love a particular run & some will hate it. This morning it was to a lady who had heard about the longer distances of W5 & she was getting very concerned she wouldn’t manage to finish. I reiterated this to her, that I have literally just completed W5 & I loved it.

I know it’s easier said than done but we should all try not to worry about what others are saying, because we may in fact experience the opposite By worrying we’ve had negative thoughts, anxiety & added unnecessary stress, but on the other hand by reminding ourselves we may not experience what others have, we will avoid all that anxiety & we will probably find the run much more enjoyable because we won’t go into it with concern or trepidation.

I’m proof to that with W5 & so far with W6.

Happy running πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ.

Oh. She's got Vavavoom 🌟πŸ₯³πŸ₯³ look at the runner evolving and blossoming fantastic and not a mention of reoccurring "naughtiness" that's a well done hells_bells2207 and you're even mentoring others out there, brilliant stuff πŸ‘

Well done completing week 6 run 1 .It is the run that catches most people out in the program .

Often because they set off too fast as they feel invincible having just completed week 5 , so the warnings are justified .

However, as you say not everyone will have the same experience and running at a conversational pace will certainly help.

Enjoy the last interval run when you do week 6 run 2. πŸ‘

I came here to say this. But not as eloquently. I think it's all about expectations. After doing week 5 run 3 without stopping, I wrongly assumed Wk6 R1 would be easier with intervals. You went in with trepidation and found it manageable/easier than anticipated. I went in expecting to smash it, and found it manageable/harder than anticipated!

I've just done Wk9 R1 and am enjoying it but do miss the occasional walk break!

Yes! Awesome post. Loving the vibes from your update. You're so right, we're all so different and our experiences will vary. Great getting tips, but in the end it's you (body and mind - however they turn up!) and the road on any given day.

Thank you. And I took *all* the advice on board.

Oh I didn’t realise that was the longest workout so far!

It certainly is, but I think most people's problem with this run stems from overconfidence borne from having completed a 20 minute run previously.

One 20 minute run does not a runner make.

I thoroughly enjoyed the 20 minute run, I equally loved the following interval ten!

Tomorrow will be W6R2.

I truly never thought I’d get this far!

Well done!Forewarned is forearmed, but you are so right. Everyone is unique and has their own unique experience of each and every run.

You have some great advice there too - take every run as it comes and just enjoy the experience for what it is. There are always positives to take each time we lace up and go out.

Well done, i think that we run the 20 minutes then think week 6 will be easy and find it’s not because overall it’s longer, you’ve obviously found your happy pace

I just went off & enjoyed it!

I'm still annoyed at the energy I wasted worrying about W5 R3 for two weeks before. At that point, I decided not to look ahead and trust Laura. She knows what she's doing, right?

hells_bells2207 profile image
hells_bells2207Graduate in reply to MrBassmanjazz

Exactly! I have never looked ahead at the program, but obviously I do learn from hearsay, as many will, even those of us determined not to look ahead.

I am now not going to worry about any run I hear comments about & especially negative things. I proved that with W5R3 & W6R1! I hope you now can do the same, especially as you’ve learned that it was wasted energy & a worry for way too long.

Good luck 🀞
