Most enjoyable run yet!!

Having done 11 consolidation runs to date, slight boredom was setting in ☹️. Thinking cap on. I live on the edge of a wind farm and have never been brave enough to tackle the hills and rough shingle paths.

So, this morning put on my brave girl pants and after an eight minute walk reached the first bit of rough path, switched on run keeper and went for it. What an epiphany! Due to the nature of the surface I automatically slowed down (big surprise) and had what can only be described as an amazing run, even including some really steep inclines. Not fast but couldn’t quite believe how much I enjoyed it.

Did forget though, before my decision to do this it’s rained quite a bit the last couple of days and unlike tarmac there were lots of puddles and my lovely newish Brooks shoes got muddy and soaked through. Ah well now properly christened.🤣

Anyway, the message of slow and slower has eventually got through to me. ✅

Happy running to all you lovely people out there.

Full marks for getting out and trying something different. Must admit I've done only one run in my new Brooks Ghosts. Been using my old Nike's for consolidation run 2 and 3 but will switch back to the Brooks tomorrow 😂👍😀

Thanks for that, loving my Ghost 12’s. Discovered my original shoes were actually barefoot running shoes😱, however they saw me through and past graduation. But the new ones are amazingly different.

Sounds like the best run! Wear your muddy trainers with pride, now you can call yourself a true runner 😁🏅🏃‍♀️

Thanks for your positiveness, not quite sure about the ‘true runner’ though 🤨.

A change is as good as a rest, as they say.

Next you’ll be buying yourself some trail shoes 😉 and wondering why you ever ran on pavements. 😁

Trail shoes already being seriously considered, hope they would be more waterproof.🤞

To be honest, I’ve never worn waterproof ones, as the sort of running I do means water comes in over the top anyway 🤣

I do generally spray the toes with some waterproofing stuff though as soon as I get them

If you’re feet aren’t too wide, and you’re not sure you’re going to wear them a lot then More Miles do a really cheap trail shoe - fits a bit like the swanky Salomon’s, but wider across the toe and about 1/3 of the price.

Great info, thanks. Your trail running sounds quite heavy stuff.

Hey, sounds fantastic! I'm still plodding along, did 4k this morning, getting there! 😀

Thanks Blossom-, was the right thing to do. Plodding’s good and 4K is brilliant.

Sounds like a lovely adventure. Perhaps you’ve inspired me to do something different next time out although maybe not hills just yet!
