So………haven’t ran in absolutely ages probably about 3 months now so need to ease myself back into it gradually whilst I find my mojo 😀 It will be 2 years on 3rd Jan since I started my c25k journey and was running 5k in 34 minutes after completion……………..how on earth do I get back to that and where do i start?
Return : So………haven’t ran in absolutely ages... - Couch to 5K
Return
Well, you're back on the forum, so sounds like you're determined! A lot of us 'slip' like this for many reasons. After I had a long break due to injury, I decided not to re-do cto5k, but to just try out a few run/walks, running for a max of 5 minute stretches and gradually building up. However, a lot of people find a structured plan best, so maybe re-do cto5k? There are a lot of forum members restarting the plan, so I'm sure you'll find lots of inspiration and ideas. Good luck.
Welcome back Slow and steady and on you go... but, maybe, as many of us have, think about repeating C25K again. If you take a look at the past posts of Catch-Up Corner... there are a fair few folk who have repeated bits or are repeating all of C25K. I did it again in January !
You know you can do it, you know there is no pressure and you know that the support is here.
Take a look at the pinned post on How to Run C25K; just as a refresher for your memory
Then pop into Catch up Corner on Saturday ( First post of the New Year), you will find so many of us new runners and older,( running wise) runners too, there. Loads of support and motivation!
Welcome back.
As stated in the guide to the plan, you lose no significant condition in the first two weeks of non running. After that loss of condition is gradual.
All any of us can do after a lay off is to go out for a gentle run and see what we can comfortably manage, then use C25k or something similar to rebuild stamina and resistance to injury.
We are all capable of doing way more than our bodies are conditioned to do, but not without increasing our injury risk. Sticking to gently progressive training plans is the safest way to push our limits, whilst gently increasing our resistance to injury.
Injury often strikes out of the blue and can stop you for days, weeks or even months.
Many of us have had to redo the plan and it works.
Have fun.
I’m so glad I’m not the only one - I also haven’t ran for ages and feel so guilty! Every night I think tomorrow I’m gonna run but when tomorrow comes I just can’t get motivated and now I have this fear that I won’t be able to do it - so if you find your mojo give some to me 🤣
