Anyone who reads my posts, know I am finding running hard. Well, today wk5 run 1 , I have learnt it is not running I find hard, it is finding stamina and leaving baggage at home as some have already suggested. I did the first five minutes the the 3 minute walk. Started the second 5 minute walk, and thought @!&? Oh dear , I’m not a runner , took Laura ( pod cast) nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/c...

Out of my pocket went to turn her off. And a voice said “ stop right there” in a meatloaf voice. . Back she went in my pocket and I finished the run.

I know that I have asked you this before, but can you speak aloud clear ungasping sentences as you run? If you cannot, then you are going too fast for your current fitness level.

This FAQ Post about Breathing may help you understand why this slow pace is so crucial healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Many people can brisk walk faster than they can jog, but it is the easy pace that builds stamina, not a faster pace. It also makes running much more enjoyable.

If you intend to persist with running then you need to enjoy it, not make it an exhausting chore.

I run as slow as possible and I can talk out loud as I often do to Laura, I will read you breathing post.

Well you are amazing, lots of people find it tough to fit running around work, family and life especially in winter, I’ve had 4 days off over Christmas and at the beginning I proclaimed loudly that I wasn’t doing anything until I’d run each day and I have, and once you’ve graduated you can please yourself and mix it up some long some short some with walking breaks and some with hills. I often think I’m not a proper runner but i get out and run! and that’s all it takes , go slow and enjoy 😉

Take confidence from the fact that your stamina is improving with every run that you do. Think back to Week 1 and compare to where you now.

Your stamina actually gets better and better every time. It builds and builds. This means that your body is ready for each run that you're about to do.
