Winter running - some tips

We often see posts here from beginners and new graduates asking how to approach their running as the days get shorter and the weather worsens.

Whilst the advice in this video from Mike James ('The Endurance Physio' - also a very experienced triathlete/runner and coach) has *not* been tailored for C25Kers, I think there's a few things here which some of you may find helpful:

Hey JohnI'm new to the idea of doing C5K I am 67 with no health issues on no meds

So my question is, do you think i'd be ok doing the run, as i really like the idea and freedom ?

I have not really done much, the odd gym session but i'd love to complete this ?

Thanks Eve

Welcome to the forum and well done thinking about it.

In this guide to the plan, which is essential reading you will find mention of an 83 year old graduate. healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

It includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

Of course you'll be ok! As long as go at a nice comfortable pace, don't push yourself, have a reasonable pair of shoes, you'll absolutely fine.

Read the guides that have been posted and go from there :-)

If there's one thing to remember, it's that you should go slowly. You aren't trying to qualify for a 100m Olympic sprint final.
