Hello all!
I’m going to go out today for the first time & am ridiculously feeling nervous!
I walk a lot but running; that’s a different story!
I am actually writing this here, so it’s in black & white & I have to go!!
Wish me luck 🍀!
Thank you,
H

Hello and welcome to the forum and the program !Well done on your decision to start.
Have a read through the program guide
healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
It's full of really usefull information to help you through the program.
Enjoy the journey 😁👍
Good luck! Remember to JOG SLOWLY ... not 'run' - in fact, go as slowly as you can manage.
Thank you! I’ll do just that.
Good! Lots of beginners go too fast, get knackered then disheartened, then give up. The idea is NOT to achieve 5k in 30 minutes, but simply to be able to jog for 30 minutes regardless of distance.
So... go nice and easy. Keep it comfortable. You are not 'working out', getting a sweat on, getting breathless - no, no no.
If you finish the last running (jogging!) segment feeling like you have energy left in the tank, or feeling like 'that was easy' - then you have gone at the perfect pace. Aim for that!
Thank you I’ve just done it!!
Woo hoo!
great! How was it?
It went quicker that I thought it would!A playlist of running songs & Laura telling me when to jog & walk & it was over before I knew it!!
Ok, that's good, but how did feel physically? Your breathing, your legs etc?
All good, breathing ok.A little discomfort in front of left hip/ thigh.
But it wasn’t bad; not bad enough to call it a pain; wearing off now.
Have you done any post run stretches yet?

(The recommendation here is to hold them for 30 seconds, not 15 seconds.)
Good luck on your journey. There are lots of good people on this forum who will support you all the way.
Take it nice and steady. Slowly is better.
Let us know how you get on too. 👍
I’ve just done ‘run 1’!!Incredible that ‘I ‘ did that!!
Get in. Fantastic 👏 👏 👏
One of the best replies ever! Love it !!
Thank you 😊!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Go and smash it.
Nice and steadily obviously 😀
Another fantastic reply! Love it!!
I repeated ‘run one’ today.
I did ‘run one’ last Fri as you know & was looking forward to doing ‘run two’ on Sunday, then got a 48hr bug & was in bed.
So today I’ve started again!
Run two on this Friday……
I know this programme will help my mental health as much as my physical (also hoping for some weight loss & obviously increased stamina etc. ).

It is certainly good for your mental health and for your general health and fitness. Your body will appreciate it.
I have managed to lose about one and a half stone without too much effort. I guess that will be a combination of exercise and cutting down on junk food, chips and currys (i still have them every now and then)
The running will really tone up your body muscles which I have noticed through having to purchase smaller waist jeans. Hoorah! 😁
Good luck!! It's not really "nerves", it's excitement! 😁👍🏻
Tell us how it went.
Good luck! Yes, you have written it now, so when you've done it, please do let us know how you got on! We've all been there and are rooting for you!
Just seen that you did it! Great! Keep us posted. Post after every session if you want to, we never get bored hearing about fellow forum members' journeys!
Well done on taking those first steps. Carry on as the programme is fantastic and it works, the exhilaration and overwhelming sense of agreement when completing each segment just grows. Good luck on your journey x
Congratulations 🥳 🎉🎉. Start of a great programme. It really works. I can see you’ve done it now, glad it went well. Good luck with it and well done again. 😊
Congratulations. Anticipate the fantastic runners highs and the disappointing lows. When you have a less good run, don’t get down hearted, just get out there the next time and have another go. Hope you catch the running bug as I have. I started C25K in Feb this year and haven’t looked back (well, not too often 😉).
Good luck! I did the same as you and told everyone to instill some (much needed) accountability. It worked - you can do it.
