Woke up injured

😳 ?? Woke up with rib pain, on the side where I broke a rib a few years ago. Don’t know what I did to cause it. It healed up in a couple of days and I got back to my running, but the pain came back. Dug up the spuds at the allotment and it was still there, then I sneezed and it shot round to my sternum too. Nearly got better when another sneeze set it off again 🙄 Presume that it will take 6-8 weeks to heal fully, as that’s what it took last year. I think this might be a Sept thing if I want to grow spuds, or possibly I’m having an AS flare, masked by meds, because I’ve been feeling pretty rough and in pain. It seems AS attacks in bone break sites. It did that on my brother too. At least I don’t have to run in the rain today. Good excuse 😊

Ankylosing spondylitis or new name is Axial Spondyloarthritis. In my case hereditary, and playing havoc with my body and eyes. I’m so tired 🛌😴but the meds are nothing short of miraculous, so I’m very grateful.

This runs a bit in my family too. So sad for you. The condition is a right pain (pun intended) when it flares. Hope it calms down soon! 🤞🏼

Thanks Granspeed . Frustrating because it’s an invisible illness, so people just think you’re being a wuss coz ‘you look alright’.

But you’re not! 🥰

I am doing. And I’ve got spuds and courgettes for dinner. Courgettes are easier to harvest of course.

They are much easier. We are still cutting the broccolini. It has produced a steady supply for for weeks for us and our neighbours. It is much nicer than broccoli, purple sprouting or even calabrese.

The squirrels destroyed my plants before they even got going, so I had zero broccoli this year.

Oh nooo! Everyone’s going down with injuries! That sounds so painful and it’s true it usually hits you the next day! Must feel so frustrating! Wishing you a speedy recovery! Do rest and take things very carefully and bounce back even stronger when ready! I’m going to get my SAD lamp out soon I think as the days become shorter, darker and I’m less active - may be an idea for you too!

I’m trying not to do bouncing currently. But hope to be able to soon!

Sorry to hear that Baddie. Ribs are funny things, aren't they? I have an annoying ache from my ribs on the left side which often comes on during walking (but never running). I think it's just coincidence that that is where I broke a number of ribs in a car accident 55 years ago, but who knows?! Hope it goes away soon.

I’ve got an ice pack on my sternum. Can’t wait to feel human again…
