I've seen a couple of posts recently about wet kit and the thud it makes when you take it off and drop it on the floor....I.P and Miss Wobble I think...yesterday was my long run day, I went out in t shirt and knee length shorts. It was absolutely chucking it down and I was soaked to the skin before I got to the end of my road.
Well, I can't get any wetter now I thought, but I'm not sure that's correct. The tow path was flooded with some of the puddles being over my shoes!I decided to weigh all my sopping kit when I got home, and found it was a whopping 2 KG, with the shoes accounting for one whole kilo!!
I expect it was a good workout for my legs, a bit like running with ankle weights!

Ugh that sounds... Well, challenging sums it up I think! Well done for carrying on, not sure I'd have been so willing (in fact I know I wouldn't, I'm a bit of a wuss when it's really raining)
Only ran in light rain. Used to going out all weather with the dog but it’s usually in hat gloves scarf and big coat. Tips on warm running clothes and waterproof running shoes appreciated
I've never heard of waterproof shoes, waterproof socks yes, but they are expensive apparently and I can't imagine how they work, or if they breathe, I've got several running jackets, none of them are waterproof. I just embrace the rain, I normally love it although yesterday went on a bit, and I actually couldn't see where I was going at one point!
Thanks I run on grass mostly but that will probably change with the dark mornings. Last week my feet were squelching but I did wonder how breathable and waterproof would work together. Oh well there’s always the rest day for my shoes to dry out
I haven’t got any waterproof run stuff either. I am going to ask Santa for a Decathlon jacket though as I got very cold and wet last winter while out on a run. I was sensibly close to home though so my discomfort short-lived.
Apparently the waterproof socks are a good idea for the wet trail in winter 🙂
I like my Nike Pegasus Shield 36 road shoes. I wear them on the trail too, and they keep some good levels of dryness in all but the wettest of conditions. They’re weather resistant . There is a Saucony Run Shield version of the Endorphin Speed but I’ve not seen it advertised in the Uk yet. Mind you it would be out of my price range I dare say
I run in the rain all the time, and it’s not a problem til it gets very cold.
Oh that’s interesting! Never thought of the weight factor. Mind you I should have, as it’s weight of rainwater that brings my headband down over my eyes and strikes my nose with a thud. It always makes me laugh 😁
