Wk6 Run1 - in the heat.

That was my first hot run. Sun was shining and temperature was up. Thanks to the advice on here, I knew it was not going to be a walk in the park.

The day before (Sunday) my sister visited us. I told her about my running. When she finally got over the surprise she asked loads of questions and was genuinely interested. Turns out she’s a sports therapist… (I really should listen more.) I told her about my calf soreness and that I had developed a pain in the side of my lower legs. “Oh yes, that is where your legs try to stabilise you, let me release it so your not building on the issue, otherwise you could get injured.” Haha. After I protested for ten minutes, she insisted.

Whatever she did, the pain was gone and my recovery time was quick!

The run itself was fantastic! I’m not going to lie, heading back to the walking intervals was not easy, but I felt wonderful. That’s another one in the bag, and the distance to the finish line is more possible than ever.

Rest day now, but can not wait until tomorrow’s final walking break run!

Great job on your first hot run… tricky little intervals they are too. Impressive selective deafness in not knowing your sisters job 🤣 but, yeah their healing hands are very impressive!

Enjoy that last interval session (of this plan) tomorrow and getting into the just running phase.

Haha. Thanks. Can’t believe I didn’t know. Thought she was a dancer. Apparently she retrained after having kids! Who knew?! My legs feel so much better though! Now I’m more than ready for run 2.

A great illustration of the advantage of stretching straight after each run to release contractions.

Absolutely! Stretching is now a major part of my cool down. She’s shown me how to release those muscles. I was close to the tightness messing up my progress. As always Iannodatruffe, thank you! 👍🏻🙏🏻
