Hi everyone, I've got the go ahead from my cardiac nurse to do this (post heart attack). Looking to give myself more of a challenge, improve my fitness, feel better about myself and what I've been thru the last two years.

I'm after some advice from the ladies about sports bra's please. Having a large chest I don't want to knock myself out first run 😜, would like some recommendations not only of good ones, but also ones to avoid please.

Welcome to the forum and well done on your decision.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

Welcome to the forum and the program !Do read the guide linked to by IannodaTruffe , it is full of useful information to help steer you through the program.

Unfortunately however, I cannot advise on the sports bra but I'm sure someone will come along who can 😁

Welcome , you are on the start of what I believe to be a brilliant journey... I do not have much experience with running , I am on week 7 but sports bras I have had loads and most to be honest have been a waste of money... But I have for the last 4 years been wearing Panache Sports bras non wired sold through Bravissimo, I am a 34 FF and I have no back pain with them or no knockouts! They have the racer bit at the back which I use for running but not walking.Happy running .

It does up as a regular bra but the straps can be turned into a racer bra.

Thank you Mrsrun! Had a look online and didn't know where to start.

Hi I normally wear wired bras but decided to try unwired . I ordered a cheap one from Amazon to see what it was like and love it. I ordered another in a different colour. I also ordered a wired one with a racer back and struggle to actually get it on 🤣🤣

Hi, another vote from me for Bravissimo.

It took a couple of parcels back and forth, sending for bras and returning them, but I’d urge you to use the “live chat” facility on their website. The customer service is the best of any company I’ve ever used in any walk of life (forgive the pun!) 🏃‍♀️

They are so knowledgeable and professional but friendly. When I eventually got the right bra, it was such a game changer that I went to one of their shops, had a (“hands off”) fitting and started buying their bras (ie not just sports ones). The prices are a bit of a 🤯 so I couldn’t replace my whole drawer in one go. But the staff know their stock, and what’s likely to suit/fit/feel right for each person.

The bras are so comfortable and so “do the job” that they’re worth every penny. I’d already wasted so much money on various other bras that just didn’t do the job.

Coincidentally I’m the same size as Mrs Run, but I never thought about it, til I started shopping there, that we are all not just different sizes but different SHAPES too.

So

What’s brilliant and comfy for me, may be rubbish for you.

The staff really know their stuff, so please use their expertise! If you do live travelling distance, then pay them a visit, (I’m halfway between Liverpool and Manchester). But otherwise do use the Live Chat 💬

No I don’t work for them (!!), but am just a customer who was blown away, once I knew what would work best for me.

For the record my favourite sports bra is the “Inspire” which is one of Bravissimo’s own brand underwired.

Happy running!! 😊 🏃‍♀️

The main thing is to go for a high impact one rather than just a sports bra. I use Shock Absorber but also had a good one from M&S. M&S also do a reasonably priced range of running/sports gear called something like Good Move that is worth checking out.

I like the brand 'Shock absorber' . Not a jiggle or wiggle from my boobies when I have this baby on. Very supportive.

You’ve come to the right place FedUp! You’ll regularly find posts asking the same question to which, as always with boulder holders, there are as many different answers as there are people! I bought mine in M&S and tried on before buying - and found that I needed a very different size to my ‘day bra’; I don’t know if this is the norm? But they don’t do mine any more so I’ll be trying a ShockAbsorber next time which is another brand that people seem to like. I hope you find something to suit - if you have any frontage at all, a good supporting bra is really essential. Good luck!

I have an amazing one from asda with moulded cups...holds everything really well just a wrestle to get in to it. Pour moi have some that are easier with hook fastening and another to turn it racer back...supportive and easier to get into. I tend to wait for the sales and they are a real bargain Good luck with your running journey
