I've had the C25K app on my phone for a while - and I've reached the level of fitness where I think this could actually be possible - although I'm still carrying a lot of excess weight.
Just before Christmas I was 24.5 stone - that and a scarily high blood pressure reading for an insurance company was the kick I needed. I turn 40 in a few months so I decided enough was enough - I need to get myself fit - not just for me, but for my 3 year old lad.
I'm now hovering around 20.5 stone (have been with Slimming World since January) and feel like I'm ready to start pushing the exercise. I do a 30-minute walk most days to/from work - so planning to turn the walk home into a run.
I'm starting the C25K TODAY!!! No more excuses.

Read my story and I promise you that you will be a LOT less nervous about your prospects for success at this. I envy you the "moment of discovery" you will experience when you realise that yes, unlikely as it seems, you too can legitimately call yourself not only a Runner but that you will be able to run far longer than you can possibly comprehend right now 😃 Just take it slow, put no time limit on it and enjoy it (even when it is heart pounding lung searing, because that passes but the sense of victory when you finish each stage never leaves you 😉 )
Well done on the weight loss, that is superb ! I did Slimming World too, I think its a really good healthy eating way of life isnt it ? , rather than a " diet " as such .
Good Luck for the programme, there are lots of us on here who havent run since school ! This programme is just the dogs wotsits ! Follow it and be prepared to be amazed. It really does work .
Slow and steady is the way , dont worry if you think youre going too slow, you cant ever go too slow on this programme. Slow builds running legs !

Well done for taking the first step! The C25k programme is brilliant, following it is one of the best decisions you'll ever make so stick at it and you'll continue to surprise yourself. Before long you will end up proud, confident and most importantly addicted to running! Go slow, stretch, take your rest days and you'll be a runner before you know it!
