Does anyone have any tips on how to run 25mins. Attempted it twice now and keep stopping halfway through and can’t get started again. Keep going back to W6S2 to keep myself going. I know I can do it as done the 20mins ok but the voice telling me to stop always wins haha

On my first 25 minute run I had a music track that lasted 24 minutes and 13 seconds and told myself I can't stop running until a minute after the music has stopped !It was Pink Floyd's 'Echoes' 😁

I did that run yesterday. What I did was mapped out the route first , walked it, visualised it and mentally told myself you can do 25 minutes if you run very slowly... But in a back handed way luck was on my side my couch25k app closed down ( I had my Garmin on to know time) so I spent much of the run trying to reinstate it and time just flew by..

Try breaking it down it smaller chunks but keep running. So your running for 10 minutes twice with a five minute run in the middle. When you've done the five minutes your over half way so the rest is easy!! Hope that makes sense, tricks that inner voice. And slow down, I run very slowly, I figure the pace will come after I've graduated. Well done for keeping trying, I've just done w7r1, which is another 25 minute run, if I can do it I'm sure you can.

Yes definitely try really slowing down, it's not about speed ATM..that can come later.. just slow and steady..good luck 👍

Those voices are a pain... I answer them back, out loud often. For me the key is to get a positive voice in my head early on (before the warm up) this is my self coach, he checks my prep is ok, he checks my pace, he encourages me on, and he tells the other voices to #%*! off too.

As soon as the voice starts its arguments for stopping start saying out loud quietly "I can do this, I can do this" sing it if you need to. Drown out those negative voices. Don't look at the time or any stats, just keep going, telling yourself that you can do it, can do even more in fact. Smile too. The act of smiling helps keep positivity on top! 👍🏻😁

I do something similar to PJ Runner. I tell myself 5 minutes is easy (I'm doing 30 min runs now, just like this!) Once I get to 5 minutes, I tell myself "well another 5 won't hurt" once I'm at 15 minutes I'm half way and that wasn't so bad and before I know it I'm at 30 minutes and it's done. Good luck, you've done the hard bit! You've got this 😉

I do the same as a couple of comments above. I fraction it all out. Once you've ran a quarter of the distance its really not long until you've done a third. At a third of the way the halfway point is really close! Working out the maths will use up some running time too 😂

If it comes down to it and 20 minutes is not a problem, run for 22 minutes next. Then, say, 23.5 minutes. Work up to 25 minutes over several runs. You can set an alarm on your watch or phone. The programme isn’t really set in stone. You will eventually be able to run for 30 minutes and then you’ll graduate. Getting there is a different journey for all of us. 🙂

If you are in pain then stop.

If you are exhausted, then you are running too fast.

Slowing down to the recommended easy conversational pace makes it more achievable and for most, more enjoyable.

Say this sentence out loud to yourself "Am I going slow enough to enable me to speak this sentence in one out breath?" If you cannot, you are going too fast.

You may find distraction helpful, so that the last things you think about are time and the physicality of running. If music doesn't do it, try podcasts or audiobooks. I used to give myself a running commentary on everything that I could see, hear, feel and smell as I ran, in full florid sentences.

Are you running on a dreadmill? If so then you have more sticking power than me and you might try outdoors.
