Sore ankle

Fear I overdid the adventure a bit on Monday with my cross country extravaganza as my ankle has been a bit painful since so I've been walking but not running. Being inexperienced I'm not sure what I did but I do remember landing very heavily on that foot as I dodged and dived, so I'm thinking a slight sprain. It's been a little swollen. It's not that bad but am worried about risking further injury if I try running on it when it's not right, especially as my body is not used to running. It is getting better. Not happy about me running being on hold though. Lesson learned. 🙃

Ankles can take a long time to heal because of relatively poor blood supply. Once pain free, cycling can improve blood flow and repair by keeping the joint mobile without impact.

Thanks for advice Iannoda. Hoping I can run tomorrow but won't if its not right.

Be very very careful. Stop if there's the slightest twinge. I didn't, and it was a month (and two physio visits) before I could start running again.

You should be pain free (without the use of painkillers). If in any doubt at all, don't run but rest it instead.

Is it ok to go for walks? I've been doing 20min quite fast walks in my park. Thanks

You’re doing the right thing to rest it until it’s mended. Don’t worry, you’ll be back to your running soon enough.
