W8 R2 Dodgy Ankle

So, just completed w8r2 and was another good run despite being bit warm! But I have a slightly swollen ankle which wont let up. It started a few weeks ago and whilst not really getting worse is not getting better either. I do the post run stretches, knee strengthening, back strengthening and am trying hard to increase my water intake, I'm also putting an ice pack on it after my run and have used a bit of anti-inflammatory gel. It's not painful whilst running but as soon as I get to the walk it really starts playing up. I've not yet missed a day and am so proud that I've run every other day since the start but I'm wondering if I need to swallow my pride and give it a proper 4/5 days rest - I would be gutted if I did bigger damage and had to stop this journey. Any advice most welcome ☺️

From experience with a similar issue ( my foot in my case ) I recommend you give it a proper rest , trust me you’ll come back stronger than ever , and since then I always have a 2-3 day rest between runs doing low impact resistance or cardio on 2 of those 3 days with no decline in my runs , resting in my opinion is just as important as exercising and it’s finding the balance that works for you 😁

Thank you, I only have 4 runs before I complete c25k and I definitely want to do that on a high, not limping to the end 🤔

Hiya, rested from jogging but been walking about and ice packing it. It's less painful but still swollen so I've told myself I've to wait till at least fri to do my w8r3 so then I can hopefully let it properly heal a bit. Is pants tho as today is my 'jog day' and feels so weird and bit rubbish not going out :( It is so amazing we've come so far and is def crazy given I was puffed out after a minute at the start! Roll on run 3 then week 9!!! ☺️

You are doing the right thing resting it. The last thing you would want is to not be able to run at all. Best to leave it a few days and then you can get back to it. I know it must be frustrating but think how much more frustrating it would be to not finish the plan after all your hard work.

It’s mental to think back to wk1 and is being out of puff after (I was during) the 60sec run.

You got this - good luck on Friday but inky do the next run when you are ready too
