Week 9 finished!!!

I did it! On the spur of the moment I went out this afternoon rather than after work tomorrow. And I completed C25K!! I can’t believe it really, am in shock that I have done 3 30 minute runs this week..a proper runner!!

As many will know I got to the end of week 6 in February then broke my foot. It was an awful time watching runners going past the window whilst sat there with my black boot on! The main thing that gave me hope and encouragement was the inspirational posts on this forum. So many have overcome injuries or illness or have things going against them yet they get spurred on and motivated by the wonderful and kind people on here. It certainly kept me sane during those long weeks and it was lovely to follow how everyone was doing. I was determined to start again once allowed and it was a joy to be able to begin from Week 1 again. So THANK YOU ALL for the advice, invaluable tips and just great camaraderie that is freely available to everyone who joins this brilliant support group. I will begin my consolidation runs next week with a sense of achievement and the pleasure of hopefully many runs to come. Happy running everyone 🏃🏽‍♀️☺️

You'll get there, just take your time and do the shorter runs first until you're comfortable with them. x

Congratulations and a graduation badge couldn't be given to a nicer person. It is hard coming back from injury for whatever reason surgery, broken bones etc but that makes the badge worth all the more 😁

Definitely, we're part of the club 😁

Congratulations! Now you can be our inspiration 💙.I got to week 9 when I had a calf muscle pain, I had to stop running for a few months. I am now back to running and working my way through c25k from week 1, like you did. Perseverance and respecting your body is key. I’m on week 4 (I was surprised how tough week 1 was when I did it a second time.

Aww thank you ☺️. It’s great to hear you are doing it again, how frustrating to have got to week 9 and then have to stop 😩. Yes definitely it makes you listen to your body more and take a bit more care as you realise just how fragile we can be! It is still tough I think but at least you actually know you can do it this time, especially having got so far before. Every good wish to you and I have no doubt you will get there this time 👍🏼

Keep posting so we can all see how you are doing

I recognise this. After surgery my body felt like it was made of glass so I was very reluctant to lift my feet of the ground in case I slipped so week 1 was awkward until I got rid of the fear but now I don't even think about it although I do still have a lot of tenderness around the area. I am well aware I sound like one of the old geezers on Still Game whereas I used to be all about gigs but the pandemic has made missing gigs easier. I won't be in a mosh pit any time soon. Good luck with your future weeks

Bless you, you really are an inspiration and have achieved so much. Think mosh pits are overrated! Keep posting! I enjoy reading them very much. Thank you for all your kind words 👍🏼

Thank you. You are probably right but I enjoy a live gig or should that be enjoyed as much reduced these days. Indeed. I have started the injections so hoping to be fitter in the next month or so. Thank you
