I graduated a few days ago and after some thought, decided that the way forward at the moment was to set my phone alarm for 30 mins and Strava too and run my normal route to see how far I actually run in half an hour. There aren’t any routes by me that aren’t hilly or in an incline so I have stuck to the same run for the whole 9 weeks - I really don’t want to get in the car just to find somewhere flatter a few miles away.
Anyway, today’s results show that I’m not even running 3k in 30 mins let alone 5k 😂😂😂 Never mind, it was better than watching the footie 👯

Having the endurance to be able to run for 30 minutes is pretty awesome! I'm on the continuous runs and I've quite enjoyed using my phone timer + Strava + podcasts, hopefully soon I'll be able to run for as long as you can.
Hello! When I first started the app, I couldn’t even begin to imagine jogging for 1.5 mins let alone 30 mins so it’s something I feel quite proud of!! I could have kept going yesterday because without the constant reminders on the app, I had no idea how much I had done. Don’t think I’ll ever be clocking up 5k though!
Just keep up the habit for the time being and you will reap the benefits. There is no need to be fast, just be comfortable. In fact there is evidence that slow runners live longer than fast runners and non runners. womensrunning.com/culture/s....
Thanks so much for very usefulInformation, as always! I’m off to do some reading of your links
Hi there, running round in circles is soul destroying (I also started off doing this). Now I do my warm up walk, up the steep hill from my cottage, starting the run at at flat point with gradual climb up and back around to run down hill (approx 3.5k). It was arduous at first but so much more enjoyable than running around in circles on the flat. I am going to continue to expand the route. Even the best trail runners walk up hill. It’s about endurance and gradual improvement. Good luck
It’s not really hills, just inclines, up and down, which I currently struggle with. I would hope that my stamina willImprove with time 🤷♀️ I’ve met a few neighbours who run and they all struggle to find somewhere locally and usually end up driving to a better place. There are no pavements for road runs so the NT Parkland seems the best for now but is getting tedious! There are lots of other runs within the park but they are all up and down. Maybe I can just walk the sloped bits 😂
I have been using the app runkeeper since graduating. The advantages are 1) you can get audio updates while you're running, set to whatever you like, either distance or time. So I get 5 minute updates, it lets me know where I am in my workout time without having to keep checking on anything; and 2) you can custom-set interval workouts too. I needed to redo some c25k runs after an injury, but actually prefer not having the coaches talk to me (which is why I haven't used the NRC app advised above as yet), but you can set intervals of any pattern on it and then get audio-updates as you go along. I guess it would also be useful in the future if I want to start doing speed intervals or something, but I'm a long way from that at the moment!!!
