Went out despite the rain and late finish at work as felt it was important not to have a reason to put off the first run I'd planned since graduation.
Set off with own playlist and running app no. 1 (have decided to try a few). Really missed Laura - had to suffer electronic voiced lady instead - but did manage 30 mins and now know that I'm covering 4.1km.
So far so good - think I'll stick at consolidating the 30 mins for a while (and see if I can cover a bit more ground over time) and, when it's not wet and dark, find some lovely places to run in.
Thinking of doing without the music - does anyone listen to audio books or radio podcasts when they run? Thinking I might give that a go.

Hi Fitter40s - I have been using music only but had thought about podcasts. At the moment I think I need the right music to help me get my happy pace. (Probably just an excuse for a slow run this morning).
Regarding the running apps - I have tried RunKeeper and Strava. I got myself a GPS watch and use it to sync to both at the moment. Strava has some foebles you need to watch out for but it is quite popular. I had a run on Sunday that RunKeeper showed OK and Strava ridiculous times. It turned out this was Strava attempt at “correcting” missing GPS data. One thing I like about Strava that the others all seem to NOT do (I did try briefly a couple of others) is by default Strava does not activate the GPS until you record a run. It makes it less battery draining when you are just reading yours and other peoples runs.
Keep up with the 30 mins - I have done 2 now since graduating - strange not kicking off the C25K app on the way out!!
Thanks Richard - I think I try to keep pace with the music and it's all wrong. Thought I might catch up with some Radio 4 favourites instead.
I've downloaded Strava but today I used Run Tracker. It was ok - pretty straightforward and seemed accurate (though I struggled to stop it at the end of the run 😂). Thought if I tried a few I can see what suits me. I was a bit worried about how I would feel running without the programme - but it was ok but a bit odd.
Still feels strange to say 'I'm going for a run' !
You may already know this. But once you settle on an app most of the web sites have the ability to export your data and also import. So you can if you wish move your data from 1 to another. That’s what I did when I started with Strava copying my data from RK. Interesting thought about the radio v music. Might give a podcast a try after all.
I listen to audiobooks, the odd podcast and radio 4 dramas rather than music. It doesn’t seem to have any impact on my speed/cadence. I do sometimes find my mind wandering then finding I have missed what is happening in my book! You can get lost in a book while the legs take over the running.
