First time poster here but I have been reading through the posts regularly since I started the C25K. The help and support you guys give is awesome.
I completed Week 9 Run 2 this morning so one more to go!
I am not aiming to be the fastest runner out there and have no 'time' targets as such. (I ran 2.49 miles in the 30 mins today) but once I'm into the routine of running for 30 mins regularly, I would like to actually run 5k. I know I could sign up for a Parkrun but in the meantime, if I want to do it by myself, is there an app that announces distance milestones during a run, rather than time, e.g. you've run 1k, 2k?
Many thanks.

The Nike Running Club app has a quick start option that allows you to set a distance eg 5k and it will announce as each km is completed the distance you've done (for 1km and 2km) then halfway at 2.5 km, then after that how far you have left to run so at 4km it tells you there's 1km left. If you carry on after the distance you set yourself it announces each km. It also tells you your pace at each km and gives you a summary once you complete the run.
It's a free app and they don't check that you're wearing Nike .
The app also has guided runs for different distances, styles of running, times etc which I have found really helpful. The different coaches (we all have our favourites) will advise on things like pacing yourself, breathing, posture, all the stuff that can help make us better runners and make the process more enjoyable.
Good luck with run 3, the sense of achievement will be remarkable
If you have a Garmin watch then the app can tell you how far you have gone and the pace. However, it calls them laps. So for example after 4km it will say something like "lap 4, 5:45" (with your pace being 5 min 45 sec for that km).
Runkeeper announces distance and tells you the time at each KM (presumably will do that for miles if you have those as your preference.) I tried to set up the announcements on Strava, but it didn't seem to work for me. I came here to say that I got a Garmin after finishing the podcast series as a treat for completing it, and it tells you on your wrist time and distance. It's a game changer! It has really helped me with my consolidation runs, as for a couple of weeks, I have just been aiming to run for 30 mins, and before I got it, I was trying with a timer.
Hi , I find that the Run Interval app really good for doing what you want. When I wanted to extend my runs I was able to create custom runs by either distance or time. Now that I’ve reached 10k, I find that I really want to run for 40 minutes three times a week. But leading up to 10km, I found it useful to set myself small incremental runs by selecting, say, 1 x warm up period of 5 minutes followed by an easy run interval of 3km, followed by another interval of easy running of 3km followed by a warm down period of 5 minutes. The app allows you to select any distance intervals you want and announces them as you reach them.
The app developer, Justin is also very responsive if you have any questions about the app replying the same day.
I have just completed the w9r2 tonight! Did slightly shorter distance than you but eventually looking at achieving 5k.I was hoping to register for parkruns right from wk1, didnt happen due to various reasons. Aiming to register for it after my last run of the programme, most likely on thursday
