Final 27 minute run… and I loved it!

Following what wasn’t a great run last Thursday I was next due to run yesterday. With the weather and following the advice on this forum I decided to do the run this morning instead, and I set out not long after 8am to try and beat the heat.

New route today (usual one is closed for the week) which I was apprehensive about but I needn’t of been - it was beautiful and scenic and I thoroughly enjoyed myself!

Big hill within the first 5 minutes (which was my main worry) - it was a toughie but got the calves into gear a treat and it was mostly flat after that. Big bonus was I got to go down it at the end!

After a bit of clock watching as I didn’t know the route and didn’t know when to turn around (I did 13 1/2 minutes one way, then the same back) I really settled into the run. The way back went so quickly I couldn’t believe it when I worked out I was nearly back to my start point! Didn’t feel like 27 minutes at all, and I really felt I definitely could have done a bit more. The 3 rest days definitely sorted the legs out after my last run!

Plan for now is work another 10% up, and to complete 87 minutes for the week I am going to do 28, 29 and then finally the elusive 30! Looks like a cooler weekend too, so have got all fingers crossed for that. After that the plan is to consolidate at 30 minutes for a few weeks after spending 4 weeks working up.

Happy Monday everyone!

Time: 27:04, Distance: 3.91km, Av. Pace: 6’55”

It was lovely, sunny but not too hot and the scenery was beautiful!

Definitely felt good today! Felt good to run and enjoy it rather than thinking about the poor legs 😂

As one or two have already said, sometimes the extra rest is exactly what's needed, well done 👍
