So pleased that I have made it to the end of C25K. I thought my arthritis would be a problem and by week 2 my knees and ankles were so painful. I took the advise given to others on this forum and took time off to fully rest my joints and also watched the videos on slow running and correct gait.
When I felt better I decided to give it one last go and to my amazement the changes to my technique worked and my joints were fine. I followed the programme and today I finished. So now my aim is to continue running.
I feel so much better, especially when I find the motivation to go after long day at work. Initially all I could think about when running was finishing that run, but now I am able to focus on other things, which for me, is a fantastic way to de-stress π

Hi and congratulations! Can you point me to the video on gait you mentioned? I am starting again after two years having quit with ankle pain. So pleased for you!
youtu.be/9L2b2khySLEItβs the Japanese slow running one, Iβm not sure link will work . I focused on trying to make my foot land in the middle of foot , not my toes or heel striking. I slowed my running down, as the video suggested, so I was almost walking and really concentrated on how I was placing my feet.
I know you can get gait analysis in some sports shops and it might be worth a try.
I take large dose of ibuprofen daily for my arthritis, before I started C25K I would really struggle with pain until my pain killers took effect( they are slow release). I cannot believe how much change I have now, I am almost pain free now, and I believe how I run ( and walk at work, on feet all day) is making the difference
The rest days are really important and I have made sure I fully rest . Good luck
That's great news, especially when you have had to overcome the arthritis. I think running does seem to help this complaint in some cases. I have osteoarthritis in my lower back, but since running, am more-or-less trouble free. It must strengthen muscles supporting the bones and keep it free of stiffness.Enjoy your well earned success. Best wishes βΊοΈ

Well done you! Congratulations! Enjoy your time on the podium and all the very best for your onward running journey,ππΎπ₯π ππ»ββοΈπββοΈππ»ππI see that you have posted a video, I also have arthritis, I shall take a look. Thank you.
Well done you itβs such a great achievement now is the bigger task to keep it going! But Iβve found itβs made me so much healthier and happier itβs addictive. But for now celebrate πππ
Congratulations! I graduated today, like you I've got arthritis (in my knee). I refused to run for years in case I made it worse but took the plunge in March. I had a blip, overdid it and had to stop for a couple of weeks but since then there's no stopping me! Here's hoping your pain carries on reducing and you keep running!
