Week 5 run 2 - in the bag

Just got back from doing my morning run. Loving the fact that I look forward to my runs. Certainly helping my mental health. I completely changed my route today and walked to one of my favourite places near where I live before starting the run. So still and quiet - just amazing! I have a question though - hubby just doesn't get why I'm feeling very deflated at the moment. I had already lost a stone and a half before taking up running 8 weeks ago (I've repeated weeks). I have a very healthy diet (now) - am in the habit of recording my intake. Obviously I am burning more calories but the scales are being really stubborn and are just refusing to move. I also make sure I am properly hydrated. I really have made lifestyle changes. I know I've made giant steps in my health but it's getting me down not seeing results on the scales. Hope someone understands this. Any ideas would be gratefully received.

Hi Penguingirl, I’m in a similar boat to you and unfortunately don’t have an easy answer. I have found keeping a photo diary really motivational. I have a photo album on my phone and every week I take a full length pic in my running gear. Despite the scales moving quite slowly, its really encouraging to see my shape change. Also just sticking to a healthy diet and trying not to torture myself too much. Wishing you luck and enjoy the next run! Xx

Morning Dee. Thanks for your reply and the idea of a photo album for motivation. I shall certainly give it a go. You are a little ahead of me now. Hope your running journey is still going well. Xx

Thanks Penguingirl. Try not to feel deflated though, you’re doing great and healthier, more active and slimmer than you were a few months ago!! Hoping you get a buzz from W5R3 like I did! Xx

Totally understand! Running does not really burn off lots of calories which really is quite annoying but it tones and reshapes your body, if you measure your bits you will see a difference. I have lost weight but I think it’s because my body is now a temple 🤣🤣 and all this keeping fit is changing my mindset.

I read on here the other day 5 k is equivalent to 5 digestives. 🏃‍♀️🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪

Morning Wavy-chick. I'm really pleased that people understand how I'm feeling. I think i might start measuring parts of my body once a month. But I also feel the M word is not helping. Honestly only 5 digestives??? Hardly seems worth it lol.

Well done on all of your achievements. You are inspiring me to keep at it! Thank you xx
