W8R3 - Done! (But hard work today.)

I've completed week 8! I'm proud of myself but I think due to having some bad nights I'm generally tired and that affected my run today. The first half was a good pace and I ran farther than in previous runs but the second half was a slog. I did, manage to push a little on the last minute but this was not one of the most enjoyable runs, despite the lovely sunny weather (barely any breeze sadly) and the fact I saw 2 bunnies and an orange-tip butterfly.

Onwards to week 9! Let's hope I can do 30 minutes!!!

You will definitely do it don’t think about it just keep going ! Some days I feel really tired and think it will never get easy other days I’m like a gazelle!! Good days bad days but as long as you keep on you will build strength and feel fab!

Thanks, Wavy-chick28 , You're right, some bad days, some good days but they all count! I don't know that I'm ever like a gazelle though 😂more like a tortoise!

Well done PigPog you are doing amazing keep going. It sounds like it is all about mind over matter for you now. When you have done it once you can always do it despite how rubbish you might feel at the beginning of a run. An orange tip butterfly lovely that you noticed it and mentioned it in your post. I haven’t managed to learn to enjoy the world around me whilst running yet. I can still identify many different kinds of tarmac and paving slabs but I will learn. Best of best luck on week 9. Not long to graduation.... brilliant

Aww, thank you, PlasticUnitedFan ! You are so right - it is a mental game now. I do think variations in things like general tiredness, hydration and mood affect the run. I know I was tired today but know that I feel good during (sometimes) and definitely after the run, so I make myself go. I have to try really hard not to look down at the tarmac when I'm running, or else I miss all the wildlife. So far, on this programme, I've seen hares, rabbits, a fox, deer, lots of birds and today - the first orange-tip butterfly. It really is worth trying to look up when running! Oh, and running first thing in the morning helps with seeing the wildlife. 🐇🦋🦊

You will do the 30 mins! It’s brilliant how the programme gets you there. Well done! 👏 👏

Just 2 wafer thin minutes to go :D

😂😂😂backintime - I'll remember that on my W9R1 on Sunday 😁

Well done, that is inspiring as I start W8 on Monday. It’s nice the read you are spotting wildlife, I do that too though I only seem to see birds around my local green spaces.

Thanks, Hidden , yes I'm lucky to run down a country lane with lots of wildlife 😁

Well done but try not to worry about pace or distance. If you slow down you may find that it’s cx less of a slog and more of a ‘determined effort’ if you know what I mean. Pace is something you can concentrate on later (or not).In any event - well done 😊

PigpogGraduate in reply to JetsNanna

Thanks, JetsNanna , you are right! I can work on pace later on when I'm comfortable with the 30 minutes 👍

Aww, I remember the not so good runs very well. We all have them, but the important thing is, you pushed on through them. Keep going lovely, that graduation is just around the corner!

Thanks, Hidden , I am determined to see this through, wherever it may lead (hopefully, it will lead to me getting fitter!!!).

Well done on completing week 8, only 3 more runs to go to graduation. We completed wk 8 run 1 this morning and can’t believe that we are running for 28 mins!

PigpogGraduate in reply to piano58

Thanks, piano58 , I know, I can't really believe it myself. It doesn't seem that long ago since I was struggling to run for 5 minutes. Amazing how this programme works. And even more amazing that my body can do it!

And! You did it even though it wasn’t enjoyable. Isn’t that great. Week 9 will be better!

PigpogGraduate in reply to Jilldiamond

I hope so, Jilldiamond ! A few of my runs particularly in the early weeks were not what I'd call 'enjoyable' but true, I did them anyway and now I am actually enjoying many of the runs and can even call myself a runner 😁🏃‍♀️👍

Woot well done! You completed, kept it going and noticed the wildlife around you, that's fab! I guess we won't enjoy every run but they all count getting us to our goal.

Very true tmbtrain ! Thank you. 3 more runs to graduation! I'll have to go very early tomorrow for W9R1 before it gets unbearably hot. 🥵🥵🥵🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Hi Pigpog, I’m on the same journey as you. I’ve found the extra 3 mins really tough this week but managed 3 runs at roughly 4.7km. Do you think I can make 5k with an extra 2 mins?? 🥵 Good luck with next week 💪👏🏻🎉

Pigpog profile image
PigpogGraduate in reply to Cloakie

Hi Cloakie 👋. Well done for your 3 runs at 4.7km!!! I don't think my stats are accurate, because it counts the warm-up and cool down brisk walks I do as well. I would be very surprised if any of us reach 5k in 30 minutes of running. We'd have to be motoring a fair bit and I run like a tortoise! 🤣🤣🤣I'm not bothered really though, as long I can actually keep running for 30 minutes, that will be good enough for me and apparently, good enough to get my graduation badge! Good luck to you too with your week 9 runs 🏆🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️😁👍

Well done Cloakie 🏆🏆🏆🎉🎉🎉👏👏👏😁😁😁It is a great feeling, isn't it? You've done so well, you should be very proud of yourself! And now you can join us in the June Consolidation Club. You are a graduate runner! Keep up the great work 👍😎🏃‍♀️

Hi Pigpog, I’m not sure if I’m missing something with the June consolidation club. Is there a link I need to join? I had a two week break from running and oh my it’s hard when you get back in but trying to do 2/3 x 30 min runs a week and getting my running mojo back! How you finding it? 😅

Pigpog profile image
PigpogGraduate in reply to Cloakie

Hi Cloakie ! I'm currently on the injury couch with IT band issues so I'm not running at all at the moment. The June Consolidation Club is a pinned post and you should see it at the right-hand side of the screen. No link to join, just post your stuff on that page and you're in! Good luck with your 30 min runs 😁🏃‍♀️😎
