W8R3 - done but not pretty!

Last run of Week 8 this morning - went off too fast (again!!) and suffered for it. I could hear Oldfloss admonishing me as I started to flag. It felt so hard, and there was a certain amount of quiet swearing going on!

It's the closest I've come to stopping during a run. However, I didn't stop, and I ran further than I have before. Phew...!

Bit nervous now about Week 9 but if I'm sensible I think I can do it. πŸ˜€

I still have times where my pace is too fast at the beginning of a run and end up having a little walk. Don't beat yourself up.

Now you are running for longer you will find your pace and breathing will even itself out.

Enjoy wk 9

Thanks for the encouragement! I do want to enjoy Week 9, so will take it slow and steady! πŸ˜€πŸ‘

Hi. I’ve just done W8R2 but I knew it would be tough so a friend can with me. That was really helpful. Can you go with someone?

That sounds like a very good idea - unfortunately there isn't anyone I can run with. πŸ™

But all this encouragement will help me to get through! Good luck with the rest of Week 8! πŸ’ͺ

Do a virtual run with someone else on this forum - arrange to set off same time and report in at end.

At least you know what you are doing to make it harder for yourself which is good. Being sensible will get you there but it's not an easy thing to be as I think there are many of us who try not to use/be that wordπŸ˜„. I'm heading for "When I am old I shall wear purple".

You can do this, no think about it.

Best wishes for a slow and steady week 9.

That graduation badge will be yours.

Thank you! You're right - who wants to be sensible? But in the case of Week 9 I think I'll be cautious! πŸ˜€

Most of your training should be at a slow pace but that faster run will have given you great benefits as well. Even more so is the mental strength you get from knowing you could push through it. It's all good training.

Pace your self for week 9, you'll smash it. Start slow, if there's something left in the tank towards the end of the run, up the pace to the finish line.

Thank you so much - it was a faster run for me, though probably quite slow compared to some of the runners on this forum! I'm definitely going to pace myself for the Week 9 runs, and see how I get on. Happy running! πŸ˜€

Congratulations JoP61 that’s fantastic πŸ‘πŸ‘ That graduation podium is within sight πŸ™Œ

I haven’t been able to get out there to complete R3 yet as I’m nursing a calf injury after R2 😩 hoping I’ll be able to head out either Sunday or Monday 🀞

Enjoy your rest days and hopefully see you in Wk9 very soon 😁

It felt tight after my last run but the next day I was in discomfort which is so frustrating 😩 Friday is always my run day after the school drop off so I’m disappointed I can’t run today but also know I need to fully rest it and let it heal so I can get back to it 😊

Really hoping I’ll back with you very soon πŸ‘πŸƒπŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸΌβ€β™€οΈ x

Did W8R3 this morning too and found the last 8 mins a challenge too BUT didn't stop!! My husband and I run together and I don't want to be the one that stops. I'm sure you'll agree that the sense of achievement afterwards is fantastic. Keep going, I am sure you'll be fine next week- it's only 2 mins more and you can do 2 minutes ( l am trying to convince myself too!!). I would be interested to know what running plans (if any) you have post W9 ? Enjoy your weekend.
