So on my last update I went out for a run for the first time in months - you’ll be pleased to know I have in fact gone out several times since my last update and more recently have been running at least twice a week again!
I have been sticking to 15 minute runs to get myself into it and am finding now that I definitely have more in the tank at the end so this week I am going to *attempt* to up it to 20. I am doing just under 1.5 miles in the 15 minutes (2.35km on the last run) currently which I am pleased with but the aim is now 10 minute mile pace 👍🏼 (10’19 pace on last run / around the 6’25 mins per km mark)
Couch to 5K helped me so much during a really tough time last year and i’m so glad to be getting back into it, I would love to be able to run a 5K again but am being careful not to rush too quickly into it! So regularly running and increasing my time/distance bit by bit is the goal for now, and more importantly enjoying the feeling of running again!

Sounds like a good plan .. look forward to seeing your progress.. I will be getting out of bed soon and putting on my running shoes .. the wind and rain have ceased for the moment and so far it looks a glorious day .. I’m just happy to be able to run round the block atm .. anything else is a bonus 😂🏃♀️😀
Certainly looks like a much nicer day out there! I’ll be getting my running shoes on this morning as well. I can never bring myself to go out in the wind and rain either 🤣
You might be better off following the structure of a gently progressive training plan rather than making it up yourself.
I know a good one called C25K and I have done it four times.
Thinking about target pace while you are not even running for 30 minutes is also not the best approach. An easy conversational pace equates to approximately 75% of your maximum heart rate, which is the perfect zone to build the solid aerobic base required to run faster and further, which is why it is the pace at which elite athletes spend up to 80% of their training time.
