hello lovely people. Well, I missed my run yesterday - It was memorial day and I couldn't motivate myself to enjoy a run. I managed again pretty well, but I am concerned that I am not hitting 5k - even with the warm down and up I am about 3.5k - should I ramp up my speed now or should I just wait until my confidence and fitness grows. I am worried about going fast and failing as this might be an obstacle that I don't overcome. I wouldn't mind some advice. I haven't lost any more weight (only 4lbs so far) but I am definitely trimmer.... which feels good.
wk3 run 2: hello lovely people. Well, I missed... - Couch to 5K
wk3 run 2
Well done for getting out for your run!! Motivation seems to be a big part of the battle I think. Don’t worry, you shouldn’t be hitting 5k until the end- and even then a big majority won’t but will still be able to run for 30minutes straight. My week 3 runs (not including warm up and cool down) were 2k. Week 3 only has you running for 10 minutes in total so it’s all about building stamina- the 5k will come at the end of the programme or after.
C25K is designed to be done at an easy conversational pace, which is the most effective pace to build stamina and endurance......... faster is not more effective.
You are doing fine. As stated in the guide to the plan, the plan is duration based and the 5k in the title is aspirational.
Only a small proportion of graduates from this forum who responded to a poll, managed 5k in 30 minutes by graduation healthunlocked.com/couchto5....
Graduation requirements are that you complete three thirty minute runs, regardless of distance.
You are doing great. Relax and enjoy it.
I still can’t do 5km in30 mins, 3 years after first completing C25K. My fastest 5km ever was 32mins+ and I’ll be slower than that at present. Don’t worry about it. Sounds like you are going great. Use the 5km as a consolidation goal after you’ve completed C25K.
