Hi there, for those who know me the title is very apt for me at the moment, but I know I'm not alone with the heat and those on the IC many of us can empathise with the title and for those running regularly and training for events it fits for you too, may we all be back running together soon.
Welcome to Week 3 Hope youre all doing okay.
What the quest is:-
The quest takes six weeks.
You can join any time within that six weeks.
The main aim of the quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.
We ask that you are a graduate . The main reason we ask this is that while you are doing the program your plan is very structured, so we wouldn't want the quest to interfere with that.
Most popular goals are:-
To run three times a week
To slowly increase distance
To train for a specific race
To add In Stretch and strength exercises
As you can see they are personal to yourself and it's totally your own choice.
Every week I will pin a new post where all the members of the quest can talk about how things are going
.
So if you wanted to join all you have to do is put
I would like to join the quest, or count me in and then I would like to. ..............
Your name will be added for the duration of the Quest.
Good Luck everybody !

I'm running, what more can I say about this week. 😀 Not far and not fast but I will slowly build up. Well the distance will get bigger not so sure about the pace. I really don't think losing a kidney will make me miraculously faster 😀🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️.
Hi Bazza welcom onboard, I have added your name. I'm sure it must be frustrating as I know how it feels to be benched but take it steady. I kept myself sane by telly myself I am only doing this recovery once so I'm going to do it right, that seemed to help on the down days. We have lots of walkers of all different abilities on our walking for health site as well.
I am now on week 2 following graduation on the 22nd of June. Last week I struggled on 3 x 5K runs and had to walk parts of each run. On Saturday morning I ran my 7th Parkrun and shaved another 16 seconds off my PB time crossing the line @ 32:07. More than taking a few seconds off my PB time I was so happy that I managed to run it all without having to walk any. I am still a long way off a comfortable and consistent sub 30 min 5k, but I'm getting there.
Welcome onboard I have added your name. I find I need the quest more when life becomes unpredictable but like you I take it down a little just to take the pressure off I find that really helps.
Back from a weeks holiday in Devon. No running last week but I swam everyday and did some coastal walking (hills!)
This morning I went out and did Stepping Stones. It went well and my breathing wasn't a problem at all. The last 10 mins were the best and most relaxed running I have felt for a while...
So back to my 3 runs per week again and looking forward to Wednesday.😊
*Proves that a rest from running can be a good thing. Before this I had done five weeks of 3x a week running.
Only managed one run last week. Had limited days when I could run at all and I managed to get a summer cold (and my other half wouldn't let me run in the pouring rain with it!) followed by laryngitis which left me lacking in energy.
Went out yesterday and did a mixed run/walk as it was hot and I'm still not 100% - but figured it was better than not doing anything!
Fingers crossed for steady improvement to achieve my 5k by the end of the month (realistically a run/walk 5k, but that's fine with me ).
Managed 3 runs continued using Stepping Stones and 2 exercise classes. Still working through the logistics of doing a park run as I normally run Friday and Sunday and do an exercise class on Saturday.
Only managed 1 run last week also and not my "quest" 5k run but I did get to the Pilates class and that is also part of my quest. Sometimes life just gets in the way and we have to accept that ...
