Painful cramp during Wk3 run 2 - help!

Hi I was really enjoying the program and on my 2nd run of week 3 when I suffered a painful cramp in my left lower calf, which has now laid me off running for over a week. I’m itching to get going again but not sure where to pick up the program. Should I go back to week 2? Cramp was always something I’ve suffered in the past when attempting running which is why I was so determined to follow C25K to avoid doing too much too soon.

Many thanks for this Oldfloss, there’s a huge amount of info within your reply. After reading I’m going to go the following: 1. Go back to Wk2 and slow down, 2. Improve my hydration to include electrolytes as I sweat considerably when running, 3. Improve stretching, 4. Try different shoes as my old Merryls are a bit on the heavy side. Thanks again 😊

Sounds like you've got it under control, best wishes. In this heat plenty of fluids, and the added electrolytes is a good way forward. Good luck, and enjoy 😎
