Just over a month since completing the couch to 5km challenge in terms of running time (3 x 30 minute runs), I ran the 5km distance today.
Never one to give up on a challenge, I set myself the goal of completing the 5km distance by my birthday and itβs done with a few days to spare.
Completed 8 months after having a heart attack. β€οΈ I have come a long way since then. β€οΈ
Look after your heart physically and mentally, it can happen to anyone. I was fit and healthy, I didnβt drink or smoke and ate healthily. I let anxiety get to me (and one particular nasty customer).
I am still working on how I deal with stress but running has helped massively.
Thank you to all the NHS staff who cared for me. Thank you to family and friends who continue to check in on me.
Wherever you are on the challenge you are all amazing for being brave enough to have a go.
