Finally ran 5km after 15 months!

Hi everyone! Just feeling great after having ran my first 5km and I only started the C25K in May 2020 lol! Havent been on here in ages but hope all of you are alright including my old graduate friends!

I graduated on the 30min runs last year and was slowly building up the duration over the winter. Unfortunately started having some knee troubles that started reducing the times I could run (went down to 10min runs at times). Not sure what happened and I eventually I stopped running for almost half the year.

Anyway started building back up again using the knowledge I learnt from C25K, during the British summer and got back up to 40 minute runs where I normally manage 4km. So was surprised when I continued for a little longer to have hit 5km!

The view wasn't bad either as I ran around the grand canal at the bottom of the Palace of Versailles, which has nice flat and soft paths! Highly recommend if any of you decide to have a holiday out here.

Haha they were OK they don't really care too much adding the grand canal, it's free to access this part.

Well that is just fantastic on many levels. You got back to running after a long break , you did your first 5k and you were able to run in such beautiful surroundings .... You lucky person. I have been there but not to run!.. The surroundings most have made that run a dream! Makes you think about all the wonderful places where people can run .

I’ve spent far too many nights in hotels in Versailles whilst working, but I must admit there are a lot worst places to stay. The palace grounds on a sunny evening are amazing, so I can really imagine how pleasant your run must have been. When I eventually get back to Versailles I will have to remember to pack my running gear.

Our offices are in Elancourt so tend to stay in Versailles as it has some atmosphere on an evening, even if it’s just walking around the palace gardens.

What a fantastic place to break your 5k duck! Congratulations that would have taken a lot of determination👏👏

Thank you, the run it self felt rather easy but you're right its the weeks leading up to it that take the most effort.

What a beautiful place to run, your next run should be around the outside of Buckingham Palace in London, you could then call that A Royal 5K, congratulations on that 5K, onwards and upwards.
