Thanks to everyone for your kind words of encouragement, hints and tips, etc. I have now completed all three Week 1 runs and already I can see the improvement. This is mainly down to the fact I ran the same route so could see how much further i was on each stage of the run. I not talking kilometres, merely metres but its there! Week 2 starts Sunday and I will pick a different route and see where that takes me.
