First post, recent lurker. Somehow, I've dragged myself to W8 R3. I started at the beginning of January, so it's really week 11. I'm 51, I cycle (recreationally) but I haven't run since I was 17 (and that involved pretending to run while sitting in the park near school on Wednesday afternoons). My toes are sticking out of the front of my old trainers, I'm jogging in really random clothes - people smile at me in the park, I'm not quite sure why haha. I like appLaura, but the music is *so* terrible and distractingly reminds me of other songs. I ran 4.2k today in 28 minutes, so I'm not going to manage 5k in 30 mins but that's ok. I'm not sure I'll carry on but it's been something to do. Not sure why I'm posting except have found this forum quite fun to read. Perhaps I'll post when I've actualy finished. xx
Over 50 - not a runner - Week 8 R3 done (somehow) - Couch to 5K

Hope you are only lurking on the forum 🤣 brilliant time to run in! I think its meant to be couch to 30mins, I am just going to keep running 30 mins after this programme and hope my time improves naturally as I become fitter, I started week 1 in walking boots and thick coat, gloves and wooly hat as was snow and ice, its so much nicer to be running in a tshirt (started that last week!) anyway! Well done getting this far and I will see you in week 9!!
Looking forwards to your Completed posting, you are so close! I can understand the music bit, so i am trying to find my own "running" soundtrack. I am kind of lucky in that there are aa lot people doing this challenge in my area so we are all on nodding terms.
Thanks for replying. Yeah I tried that but couldn't get the phone app to work alongside Spotify so just went back to Laura on the podcast and her appalling taste in music. I guess I can put up with it for one more week....I don't know anybody else locally doing it, although I've started to recognise the same faces in the park looking as knackered as me, so perhaps they are.
Well done on getting to Week 8 and the third run. You ARE a runner! I listen to my own music (mostly 60's stuff) as this modern stuff gives me a headache. I like tunes that I know the words to and can sing along with (in my head anyway).
Three more runs and you graduate. How good does that sound?
You're doing great ......for a non-runner 😂 x
Thank you. I'm def a jogger rather than a runner, but I'll take it. x
Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress. This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.
Enjoy your journey.
Treat yourself to some new running gear and you’ll be the object of some admiring looks as you jog past looking like a professional! 🏃♀️ on a more serious note-I bought some new jogging clothes & they made a big difference-so light weight! No more lumbering about in heavy old stuff! 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️

Corrected the subject title for you
When are you going to change your username to something more positive?
Great post. Where all dragging ourselves through this program (or at least I am), all any of us non-runners can do! Keep going... you have definitely got this! 👊🏽
Oh hubris my old friend. I *knew* I shouldn't have posted until I had finished the whole thing. I set off on W9 R1 last Monday, pinged my calf after 13 minutes and limped sadly home. Ice and a week off ensued.
But I've managed to complete W9 R1 today, very slowly, but with no ill effects. I bumped into a friend after about 10 minutes and stopped for a 3 minute chat so I added 4 minutes on at the end, I reckon that's OK. Onwards! 🙂
