Iām still two runs away from week 5 at the moment, but in the past I know Iāve focussed on how much of it I (should) know I can do. The first run is three lots of five minutes - thatās a minute less in total than the week 4 session, and I know I can do five minutes because Iāve done that before. The next one is two eights - ok, thatās a five and a three joined together, and is still only the same amount in total as week 4. And run 3 only adds a few more minutes on top. Five minute reminders through it make it manageable...Remember, the plan is preparing you for this. If youāve managed all three week 4 runs in full, youāre more ready than you think!
Dont dread it, enbrace it. I am on week 5 and completed W5R2 this morning. I found W5R1 hard but W5R2 much easier today both runs in the wind, cold and rain. I am actually looking forward to R3 now. You can do it!
Don't dread it, it's not such a big step up from what you've already done. In W4 you've been running for a total of 16 mins; in W5, you will run for a total of 15, 16 and 20 mins in the three runs. Not such a big increase from what you've already done - the step up from W3 to W4 was much greater. And think of the unknown as a source of excitement, not dread. If you find it's too much and you need to repeat some runs, it doesn't matter. And if you do complete it, just think how chuffed you'll be. I say that as someone who was amazed that they could run for 60s just a short time ago, and I got through it, but a positive attitude (and slow speed!) helps you push on.
Thanks. It sounds like it's more head work than leg work I need to do. Finish week 4 tomorrow then go for it on Tuesday!
