Consolidation runs

A couple of weeks is good..shake it up.. 30 minute runs..shorter and some lovely , slightly longer, just see where you get to runs..slow and steady. Some new routes too, can fun..Check out the pinned , What next? Post.

If you read the post for the current March Consolidation Club healthunlocked.com/couchto5... you will find a definition of consolidation, as used on this forum.
There is no compulsion to consolidate and no defined number of runs you should do. The idea is to give your body a break from the week on week increase in demands and to become comfortable with whatever you achieved at the end of the plan (5k or 30mins) BEFORE moving onto longer runs or speed work.

I would say 9-12 if I had to put a figure on but buts Ianodda says it depends on how you feel after a few. Everyone is different. I have to admit I may have sneaked a couple of 33-35 minute runs in there, but nothing major.

You can run your old routes the "wrong" way round too. But try new routes. But I am still not trying steep hills yet.

I did about 12-16, just wanted to get used to running and am glad I took the time.
Consolidation runs are actually hard work- it's a good time for your body to recoup and just get used to running- it is also a time to reflect and maybe even consider what to do next- while still maintaining a running schedule.
I am doing a 10k magic Juu Juu schedule now- which is varied with some runs coming under 30 mins, although honestly making time to run, and keeping my body in tip-top condition takes priorities these days to PBs.
Hi I did 9 weeks of consolidation runs it took my body that time to run 5k comfortably within 30 mins I think my age was a factor (50) I then increased the time by 5-10 mins and did that for a while and then increased gradually till I got to 10k I've been doing 10k once pw for 2 months now and only just feel comfortable to increase. If I increased too much too soon I ended up in pain! Everyone's different I think it's important to listen to your body...
