I’ve only gone and done it! Flipping blooming heck! Me! Little old fat me who hasn’t run since coming last in the 100metres in fourth form all those decades ago!
I’m so proud of myself and my son (who if you remember promised to come at meet me at the finish line) took this rather blurry photo of me as I finished 😃 I like to think it’s blurry because I was going so fast 🤣
Thanks to all the posts on here which have inspired me and for everyone’s wonderful comments which have kept me going 👏 You’re all amazing and supportive and if I can do it anyone can!

Oh no! Do you give him a hard time?! I was worried my 17yo would be busy looking at his Insta feed and not notice me approaching 🤣 as it was I was too quick for him!
Actually I'm a bit cross with my son for not taking a better photo but he said he was so amazed to see me looking so well after running for 30 mins that I caught him off guard 🤣🤣
And thanks for all your support too - this forum has been my support team!
This is such a lovely post. Congratulations I bet you feel fabulous. I love the fact your son got up early to see you.
I'm just going into week 9 and feeling strangely excited, I only run in the dark though, not brave enough to do it in daylight yet, I'm very slow 😂. My son (18) sometimes starts off with me but then carries on at his own speed which is mega fast. But I know he's been impressed with my commitment and the fact I just keep going, which is a lovely feeling.
It is a fabulous feeling but now I’m not sure about the next phase!
I ran early mornings just so I wouldn’t get seen, on about week 4 I stood by my back door literally waiting for enough light to run - I’m in a rural area so no street lights or many houses!
I’m very slow too - I’m not sure I’ve totally made peace with that but I’d rather be able to run well for longer than fall into a sweaty heap trying to run quicker and not going for very long. It is, almost literally, a marathon not a sprint!
Good luck with week 9. You know you can do it now you’ve got this far. Will your son come with you and see you over that finish line? It’s a lovely feeling to be able to share the moment! 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
It's funny how we are bothered about people seeing us 😂. Maybe my son will run with me at my pace 🤣 next week or just be waiting for me to arrive home.
Whoop whoop 🙌🏻 well done you - amazing achievement and make sure you celebrate and treat yourself 🏃♀️
I'm sorry I missed this post yesterday. Congratulations and very well done. How lovely to have a photographic reminder of your success too (well done son )
I hope you had an amazing day yesterday, I had an early night xx
