So it's been a bit of a gap again between runs and to be honest I didn't really feel it today ! but felt I needed to do it , it's been 11 or 12 days ! ☹️
I was planning on running yesterday but had a call on Wednesday to go for a covid jab so thought I'd rest on Thursday just incase I had any side effects .
As it happens, I didn't .
So yesterday was spent working in the garden (well overdue!)
I could tell from the outset that this would be a struggle today , I just felt I had no energy , and my legs felt tired .
To be honest I think this is more a symptom of the fact I am not running very often !
I really need to pick this up again .
So, not going to beat myself up about it but decided after the first km that I would do 3.5 and having made that decision it took the pressure off .
What I will try to do going forward is to start running twice a week again then hopefully 3x again and rebuild my fitness up rather than trying to push for pace or distance when my fitness level has obviously slipped.
What the last couple of months have certainly taught me is yes, you can have a break and it's not the end of the world , BUT, have another break then another and you will start to pay for it !
I reckon I could have pushed it to 5k today but thought it unwise !
I'm more likely to go again in a couple of days if I keep this short and comfortable.
So that's what I will do .
Get the run frequency up again first ! 🙂

Well done, Ian! That route looks familiar as well 😊. We both need to get out there regularly. I’ve found it hard lately, too. Well done for that 3.5 K 👏👏👏👍
Great that you’ve had your vaccination, I had mine 10 days ago. I took what was offered and had a nice little drive out to Terrington St John, somewhere else in the sticks! All perfectly organised and it was nice to see people. I’m not sure how many people look on having their vaccinations as a trip out to be enjoyed 😂
Well done Ian and congratulations on the 3.5k. 👏👏👏 It was the sensible thing to do to stop there. I wouldn't worry too much about the heavy leggedness - it will pass. I was the same after my 10-day break, but it has improved over the last 2 or 3 runs. I also think as I wasn't running I wasn't paying so much attention to hydration - so that could maybe be a factor too?
Your plan for going forward sounds good though.
Maybe your jab has made you feel a little bit lacklustre? Mr B was the same after his. Good you have had it though.
It's just a matter of getting into the habit again.
I'm currently being strict about every other day, which means three runs one week and four the next. At some point, I think I'll probably benefit from a couple of extra days' rest.
A lot of "not feeling it" and tired legs going around lately, myself included. Well done on getting back out there, I'm sure a few more runs and you will be back up to speed and enjoying it again 🤞🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Well done. I’ve been in the same boat due to injury, and have found that after a few runs I’ve already started to bounce back, as I’m sure you will too.
Also lucky you not having side effects, I had mine a few weeks ago and it felt like I’d been hit by a train for a few days!
Nice run Ian and good progress on the 'get back to regular running after winter ' campaign 👍 it's so easy to get out of the habit of running regularly even after bedding the habit in, but the change in the weather is encouraging us all. Having your jab was a priority this week 👍 enjoy your run tomorrow and take it steady 🌞
Thanks , Good to get the jab done , and yes the weather certainly makes a difference although a few aches this morning , let's see what tomorrow brings 😁
