Welcome aboard!
It is absolutely OK that you are "slow jogging" that's exactly what you need to get through the plan.
As to breathing, don't get too hung up on technique at this stage... just keep breathing! If it's a bit huffy don't worry too much, just try to slow down a little more if you can.
Please read this FAQ post which is just crammed with essential information to get you through the programme healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
Most of all, enjoy it and your journey! 👍🏻😁
Welcome.
Please read the guide linked to by GoGo_JoJo
You need to jog slow enough to be able to speak aloud, clear, ungasping sentences..........if you cannot you are going too fast for your current fitness level.

Hi Kitty143, well done on completing your first week 👏🏻👏🏻
As GoGo_JoJo says don’t worry too much about breathing technique. I personally just take a nice deep breath in through my mouth then purse my lips slightly as I exhale and I get this into a comfortable steady rhythm as I’m jogging along. Imagine your body is like a machine and the oxygen your taking on board is your fuel. If you’re taking in sufficient oxygen you won’t feel so out of breath.
I hope this helps you and Good Luck 👍🏃♀️
Good for you, I did brisk walking and power walking in the jogging bits for the first few weeks, have graduated last week but only recently slow jogging bits- it's working for me, just do enough that pushes you a little bit. To much and it won't be fun! And it does get fun. Honestly. About wk 3 so stick with it. The Nico Nico pace video was really helpful for me. I'm a fatty, but I'm getting more fitty 😜
Breathing sorts itself out once you get through 5-8 minute intervals. Slow is good! You just need to get through each day of the plan. Too many people go too fast!
Try taking a step backwards and do some regular brisk walking on a daily basis for 5K. As you get used to it and your breathing gets more used to it you can get on with being pushed along a bit and increase your speed. At this point you may find yourself walking and jogging. It is all progress,,,
I don't think it's so much about size as general fitness. My first attempt at week 1 ended with a bout of nausea, palpitations, cold sweats and a stitch. I didn't progress beyond the end of week 2 until my third attempt at C25K several months later.
