Today I completed R3 of W7. I have found this the most challenging of all the weeks. I’m sure it’s just a mental thing knowing there are no more walking breaks in between. My hardest time is the first minute when 25 mins of running seems so out of reach. Then my legs tend to ache at about 8 mins and I have a chat with myself about the toxic10. Then after about 12 mins I have to think about my breathing for a few minutes. BUT all of this passes and I have pushed through and done it.

For everyone just starting on their C25K journey and those approaching W7....trust the plan and have faith in yourself. If I can do this-anyone can.

Ps tracked myself today...just to see. I covered 3.66km and my fastest km was 9m40s and I am quite chuffed with that as a couple of months ago I couldn’t run 100m without my lungs exploding.

Come on W8 👊👊👊

You are absolutely right about the mental aspects of running. I always find distraction works well for me and on long runs I like to listen to a novel :)

Well done on week 7, great job! It's all down hill to graduation from here :)

I think that’s a fab idea to listen to audio books instead of music. Thank you.

I can’t believe graduation is only a couple of weeks away 😱 x

I’ve just started to listen to podcasts instead of music, (got week 7 run 3 today) and am amazed at how much it helps. Thought the music was helping but think it confused my pace a bit. Time seems to go much quicker when I’m listening to something interesting.

Amazing - well done! What’s the toxic10?

Thank you MrsD. There is a post on here which explains it very well. I’m a bit rubbish with links and techno stuff.

Its about oxygen and muscles and the way they work....makes complete sense when you read it.

Good morning!

Just back from week 6 run 3. You have done so well, what a fine example you are setting! I’m around 9 mins per km which I’m very pleased with. Not long till graduation for you, I’ll be very proud to see graduate after my name!. When I’m running along at my slow speed I think about the lovely coffee I will have when I get home. I don’t worry anymore about what people think either, ( carrying the excess baggage) and those dogwalkers I see give a friendly wave and say hello. The shock of me in the Lycra has obviously worn off!

All the best to you

Thank you so much Myzinnyboy 😊Well done for completing W6.

You’re now officially a runner😃

Like you I can’t wait wait to have the graduate badge 🎓

Haha. Me too. I caught a glimpse of myself on a photo at park run ....with a scarf wrapped around my face. Lycra clinging to bits and strange bumbag loaded with stuff ! Who knew I would not care what I looked like.

Perfect strategy! Don’t get competitive with yourself quite yet, but it is nice to give yourself a boost by checking the stats! These last 3 weeks are all about conditioning your legs to running 3x a week. Be prepared to run as slow as you need to, in order to keep going and not increase the aches and pains. You might find you can breathe easily but the legs are your limit - that was a shock the first time I felt that and wondered if I was trying hard enough! My knees complained during the last 3 weeks, but I was gentle on them, did stretches, and took rest days and I made it. 🤞🏻 for the last two weeks - you can do it!

Thank you for your advice Equi-geek. I’ve resisted tracking myself because I know I run slowly and didn’t want to be put off. I won’t do it again now until after I graduate.

Well done! I’m only a couple of runs ahead so can completely relate to your physical and psychological descriptions! Nothing can match the feeling of achievement when you finish your run! Good luck for W8!🏃🏼‍♀️👏🏃🏼‍♀️👏🏃🏼‍♀️

What app do you use to track? I need to do this!!! X
