Back out there W4R1

Hi all, I’m afraid I’m a bit of a lurker on here. I love the motivation and optimism but often feel I have little useful to add as I’m a rookie. I posted on here a few months back. I was loving running, something I thought wasn’t for me in adulthood. I reached W4R2 but then injured my right leg to the point I was limping.

I had gait analysis done at a lovely small running shop and left the proud owner of some Brooks max stability running shoes. I then rested for 4 weeks until I was pain free before starting the whole program again from scratch.

I’m now back out there and about to complete W4R1. I’ve slowed right down and have proper running shoes but I’m still a little nervous as I’m hitting the point where it went wrong last time. Wish me luck and thanks for all the inspiring posts on here. They really are encouraging.

Hi WLWonder wishing you lots of luck with your run. I’m sure it will go well with your new shoes and slower pace. Go for it! 😄👍

You can do this now that you have the right trainers and am injury free. Just trust in the technology and take it nice and slowly! Good luck!

Don't push too hard but keep going with it. I posted last week that I was having to pause after my week 4 runs due to niggling leg problems, and I had responses from several people who had similar problems. After doing the strength training and easing back into it gradually they progressed well. I'm sure you'll be another success story :)

The correct support in your shoes can make a huge difference.

Follow the advice in the guide to the plan on minimising impact and no need to be nervous........it is s training plan, not the Spanish Inquisition.

Thanks, I know just don’t want to get injured and be set back again.

Good luck! And when you think you slowed down go even slower. That worked for me.

Hi I am exactly the same stage as you, after exactly the same injury at exactly the same time. Are we twins?? keep going, nice and slow, follow all the advice , and you will get there. let us know how you get on

That is uncanny. Let’s hope we both enjoy this week and those injury niggles stay away 😀
