Take 2.... keep going

I started this on our first lockdown April 2019. I managed to get to week 5, but I was really struggling with my breathing. I tried so many different things to help, but I really couldn’t breathe while running.

I then suffered a heart attack and had to have a stent, so no wonder. I was pushing my body to the limit, when it was struggling. 8 months later and I’m ready to start again.

I have been very anxious but over the last few months, I have been building up my walking and listening to my body.

I have been told this week I am going to be a Nan for the first time. I want to be able to run/jog with my grandchild around the park. Be fitter and healthier and really look after myself this year and after.

What ever your challenge or for whatever reason you are doing this, you have got this.

I have got this, week 1, run 2 done. Feeling proud. -2 outside and feel on top of the world.

Well done! Do take care of your body though. Listen to your body and take advice of your specialist. Good luck!

If that is one thing I have learnt, is to listen to my body. I had all the signs and didn’t listen before. Thank you

Well done Mandie76! How exciting to be an expectant grandmother, and also for starting running again. 😀

Brilliant start to the new year for you - got to focus on all the positives now with everything that's going on. Fantastic achievement for you after struggling with your breathing, and SO pleased you've found out what the problem was and got it sorted. Onward and upward now - keep running towards your first grandchild!

Thank you so much for your kind words. We have to absolutely stay as positive as we can.

Sure do!- go slow and don't push it even though you are healthier now than you were before - the positives will keep you going .

Good to hear that it's going well for you.

From my experience, building up after a heart attack is achievable but it can be a frustrating and worrying journey.

At the moment, I'm restricting my running to ice free days so that I'll be ready to start ramping up when the ice has gone.
