C25k take 2

After a break from running, an increase in stress, weight and a massive decrease in spirit it's struck me these things might be connected. Struggling with willpower and motivation after a lonely move to a small island in the channel, I've been thinking about what got me through c25k the first time, and beyond: this forum (along with Laura). So I'm reaching out to touch base with you and help me commit to another 9 week journey, inward and outward. Hoping to share some coastal runs with you soon.

Oh Portly, welcome back! I'm sure when you get back out there the stress will lift and the spirits will be on the up too! Let us all know how you get on, we are all behind you. When's the first run then? x :-D

Welcome back - you know it makes sense!! You're right, posting on here is what will get you through - I found all the encouragement from my friends here invaluable. Now that the weather is changing, find yourself some nice, safe runs with uplifting scenery and you are half way there!

Sounds like lots of change PS and a bit of an unsettling time. c25k will help, I am sure of it. Coastal running sounds very lovely. Look forward to following your progress.

Welcome back!

You've nailed it ! there is no doubt about the connection between stress, weight, running and low mood is there: stress can lead to weight gain (specifically around the waist) , as does lack of physical activity... and moving house is stressful per se.

And being connected with others is a great help - so again welcome back on this forum!

For me being outdoors has always helped with low mood, and since I have started running this has become even more evident.

Just out of curiosity, how small is the island you moved to? And nice runs can be done on islands: Bere Island - off the West Cork coast, has a parkrun , and on Sherkin they did this one:
