I was planning on taking it easy and to listen to my body. Unfortunately my ears did not listen well enough. My body wanted a walking break, but I just could not go back after having run 30 minutes straight on Sunday. So I bit through everything and I ran another 30 minutes straight. Funny thing, I ran exactly the same distance as Sunday: 3,29 km.
Sunday felt easy, but today felt much harder. I think it has to do with in the weekend I run in the morning when my body is still fresh. But during the week I run after my work in the afternoon and after having sat a whole day at my desk. I do believe it, deskwork is physically exhausting...
On to Thursday,! Wondering if I get to another 30 minutes straight on Thursday whether I could get a graduation badge or not, not having finished the app...
To qualify for the graduation badge and the word Graduate next to your username you must complete all the 9 weeks of the program, including running 3 times for 30 minutes in the 9th week.
I stopped with the program after W6R2 because I needed walking breaks still while the program did not give walking breaks anymore. If I had followed the program, I would have stopped running. I went on on my own, giving myself a walking break when needed and now after 2 to 3 weeks (so actually on week 8 to 9) I have run 2 times 30 minutes. Just 1 more time to go to reach 3 times. But because I went solo after W6R2, I can not graduate after my third 30 minute run?
Of the record, I also had to use another C25K app, because the one you guys use is not compatible with my phone.
Well in that case I'd better have my Graduate badge removed! Confession: I wasn't completely inactive before I started C25K. I danced, did yoga, walked and hiked, and had been walking an hour a day in hilly forests and countryside during lockdown 1 over here in France.
So having looked at the programme, I started at Week 3 and then moved onto Week 4 after a couple of runs. Had I had any difficulty, I'd happily have gone back to the start of the programme.
From Week 4 onwards I did all the runs in the programme, always with at least one rest day in between, but often with extra walking back, and sometimes a bit of extra jogging, because I was lousy at calculating where I'd end up.
Of course I'm not recommending that people should play around with the C25K programme, as I fully understand that it's a very carefully structured plan that increases gradually for good reason.
However it seems odd to me to tell someone that managing to complete three 30-minute runs won't count as graduation because they didn't do every single thing that they were supposed to do along the way.
No! Not the Cmoi I knew, surely. To quote Captain Renault, I'm shocked - shocked - to learn that you cut corners. 😃
But as badges are awarded when people request them, really it's whether or not you feel you've accomplished enough to qualify regardless of how you got there. And for me, if you can get to a point of being able to run 3 x 30mins within a week, without overstretching yourself or sustaining injury, you've done it!
Completing the 3x 30 minute runs makes you a graduate in my opinion - you adapted and found a different way to achieve the goal of the plan by finding something that worked the way you needed it to.
You've been following the plan up until now, and we've enjoyed your posts throughout. I think you should be rewarded your effort after Thursday's run! 😊
