Iβve made it to consolidation run number 9, yay! So glad Iβve managed to get to this point, albeit by dropping down to two runs a week recently due to various reasons including weather/work/feeling a bit under the weather/waiting for gait analysis (to ensure I donβt cause any further niggles in my knee)!
Originally I set out today thinking Iβd do a slow run to reach 5k but realised halfway through Iβd set off faster than anticipated (clearly my short fast run last week did some good as I felt fine!) and so I settled on a faster 30min run instead as I didnβt want to push pace and distance. I was a little shy of 5k but happy I managed another 30min run without any issues.
A big shout out to every single person who has been part of my couch to 5k journey either non-directly through sharing your progress or directly with all your lovely comments and likes on my rambling posts!! Your engagement had kept me accountable so thank you so much βΊοΈ Not sure how often Iβll be posting on here going forward, maybe Iβll even venture over to the bridge to 10k forum in the new year... but I will keep an eye on everyoneβs progress here regardless. βΊοΈ
Happy running all!! π¦ππΌββοΈπ₯³

Well done for your Consolidation Run no. 9! πββοΈπππ Youβre definitely faster than me, thatβs a pretty good pace youβve got going there! I can manage that on a 60 second sprint when Iβm doing interval work π
Sometimes life gets in the way and we canβt always run. As long as youβre getting out there a couple of times a week, Iβm sure youβll be fine. π
I post on all 3 forums, I like to spread the joy π. I donβt start any posts on the Couch to 5K any more, just comment on other peopleβs! Most of my posts are over at the Bridge, but if I run more than 10K then I post in the Marathon forum. All 3 are helpful and friendly.
Thanks Jools! I definitely think the cold and drizzle made me run faster today π Youβre so right, Iβm going to make time over the Christmas period to get out there and keep running βΊοΈ
Fab! Iβve been reading posts on the bridge to 10k forum for a while now, so will likely pop up there at some point π really want to get my gait analysis sorted before I start upping the distance though!!
That was a great run Laura-galloping gazelles π¦π¦π¦ Weβve all done great to get this far- thanks for all your positive comments too- keep us up to date with what you get upto! C xx
Parts of it definitely felt more gazelle like today π¦π Thanks for all your encouraging comments, Iβll be sure to keep an eye out for any posts about your progress too π xx
Great consolidation LauraRuns π there's a place on the bridge to 10k forum's waiting for you π
Wow Laura...that was very impressive, well doneπ. Sounds like you've had a lot to contend with but you've done well to get out twice a week. What a lovely post, thanks you've been very supportive, really appreciated. All the very best. π¦ππ’πββοΈπ x
Well done Laura. Great pace! When I set off and promise myself a slower more enjoyable pace, I always find I do better.
When I leave the house thinking "right that's it, new personal best" that's when it all goes wrong. So I say think slow and enjoy what your mind and body is achieving.
I'm running 10k quite often now but not looked at the bridge to 10k,maybe I should, probably see you there. πππββοΈ
Thanks Maisie!! Iβll be forcing myself to do a slower 5k run soon, hopefully it wonβt be as cold and drizzly as I think that made me run quicker π
Congrats on reaching 10k! Definitely see you over on the 10k forum sometime soon π₯³ππΌββοΈβ¨
Itβs hard fitting runs in when life gets busy but any running is better than no running (or thatβs what I tell myself anyway)! Good luck for your weekend run π¦π¦
I ended up trying my first evening run today after being inspired by everyoneβs posts π¬ it was a bit of a disaster but Iβll chalk it up to experience!! π€¬π±
Oh no!!! Yes definitely, onwards and upwards. We all have bad runs and itβs best to write them off as some extra distance on our newbie runner legs!! β¨
I ended up running way too fast (I think it was the drizzle, the cold and the dark being a little disorientating!) - at a 6'15km/m pace! All my niggles started agrivating me, the gremlins came out πΊ and after about 15 minutes I landed hard in a pothole, soaking myself as it was full of water and really jaring my ankle! I carried on a bit further but I was worried about injury and I wasn't enjoying it so I stopped!! π
19m and 3k was all I managed but it was an experience and I'm going to learn from it. BTW I have a head torch on my Christmas list!! ππ€
It'll teach me to get all inspired by team gazelle's posts and go out unprepared! π¦π€£
You know what, the rain and cold definitely makes me run faster without me even realising so I think that must be a common thing!! I've avoided running in the dark for safety reasons but a head torch sounds like a good idea, I may have to get one for the winter months.
Sounds like you had a tricky run but lots of extra experience and lessons learnt, so not all bad!! I hope your ankle is okay after that pesky pothole too.
Maybe team gazelle should arrange for a team run on the same day/similar time at some point!!
Zoiks! Ouch SD that pothole sounded pretty awful. I hope you don't have any lasting injury from that sudden dip and surprise? And ahem.. 6.15km pace?? Whaaaa π€£π€£ Please go steady next run and at the right time for you. We don't want any of team Gazelle on the bench π¦π¦
CR9!! Well done LauraRuns, you have been packing in those CR's nicely to keep the consolidation ticking over which is the aim of the game. Like you, I've been a bit sidelined with work and other stress this week and have had to drop to 2 runs. I am itching to get out!! I managed to get an hour PT strength work in yesterday but I am missing the runs. Tomorrow will be my CR8 and Sunday CR9. Once I have 10 CR's under my belt, I think it's time to take the plunge to Bridgeto10k where I have been lurking for a couple of weeks π Hope to see you over there too so we can compare notes again on the next stage of our running adventure. In the meantime, keep up the good work..you're doing so well and 5km is a whisper awayπ
Thank you!! It is so difficult to fit in three runs a week when life gets busy and the darkness comes this time of year but weβre both still getting out there and thatβs what counts ππΌββοΈππΌ Sounds like a plan, hopefully see you over on the 10k forum sometime soon βΊοΈβ¨
Hey! How impressive is that?! Well done, you. So great that you are finding the groove again. Hope to catch up again somewhere on the other side of the other side... although it could be a while before I get to 5k (and thus qualify to be on the Bto10k forum). Will miss you in the meantime π’πΏ
Aw thanks Gail! Iβm glad Iβm past my streak of difficult runs for now, onwards and upwards ππΌ Iβll be sure to keep an eye out for any posts from you even if Iβm not posting βΊοΈ
