Back to run after shingles

So yesterday I couldn’t bear the wait any longer and went for a light jog I managed 4K, walked a couple of minutes when I felt like it.

It felt good but after 3 weeks of not running and being ill with shingles I feel really... drained.

I slept so well last night though, but today I feel like I should be in bed instead of working. Luckily I’m WFH

Any foods or drinks you think might help me to recover faster? Being drained is kinda painful too? 🤔

Well done in dragging yourself outside after that painful thing. 👍

As to foods, I think eating enough of a reasonable balance is all that's necessary. The occasional treat in moderation.

For recreational running it's really not necessary to follow any special diet. The increase in energy comes from stimulating the metabolism with exercise, not from eating anything out of the ordinary.

I always drink a glass of chocolate milk to recover from a run. I am sure someone on here once recommended it and they seemed to know what they were going on about. Also it was too good a suggestion to pass up on (for that reason please everyone who reads this don’t point out if it’s garbage 😂😂😂)
