Getting back to running after a cold

I finished my last run Week 9 run 3 last Thursday and promptly came down with the worst cold I’ve had for years!

I’m itching to get back into things- any good advice?

I’m pretty sure it’ll be Tuesday or Wednesday at this rate before I get out again!

So frustrating! 😖

You lose next to no condition in a fortnight of no running.

Just be kind to yourself and have a gentle run .

Sorry for hearing of your very bad cold after you graduated last Thursday, just take everything nice'n'easy until you get better.

Congratulations on your graduation run Lizzog, to get your graduation badge and the word GRADUATE 🎓 next to your username leave a message on the December🎄🎅 graduate post in the pinned posts on the right side of the healthunlocked C25K home page and tell the administrators that you have ran W9R3 of C25K 🎓

Take care of yourself.. the runs will still be there.. and you will enjoy them so much more if you feel on form!

Know how you feel - I’m just struggling back after a vindictive flu jab ! Keep your chest warm and your fluids up x

Get over the cold and don’t worry... slow and steady on your comeback run, you’ll be just fine.

Thanks everyone. Feeling more like myself today - but not planning on running until later in the week. I had pneumonia two years ago and am terrified of having it again, so taking extra care!!

Well I ran today- one week after my last (graduation) run and subsequent head cold. Managed almost 30 minutes then was defeated by last few minutes which were uphill (not many flat areas in my neck of the woods). Felt a bit miffed but keep reminding myself 10 weeks ago I was not running at all 😌

I've managed to keep running regularly after graduation...just because I am in the routine I think! If you try and keep to 2 or 3 runs a week I think you will enjoy it. I still run 30 mins (sometimes a few minutes more0 and have gone along to a local Park Run which is very enjoyable. You might want to look for local park run (very welcoming ) Basically its 5k and very much at your own pace

Thanks- not near 5k yet but can run for 30 minutes. The cold left me feeling pretty unfit so once I’m back into it I’ll be aiming for x2 runs a week. I also do yoga Pilates and go to the gym so want to find time for those too! Will look at a park run once I’m up to the 5k mark!
