CR2.. BOOM πŸ’₯ 5km

When your warm up tunes start with Survivor β€œEye of the Tiger” you know (or fervently hope) that this is going to be a good run. How can it not be with that pounding beat? I was almost air punching Rocky style on my walk to the park to get this run started πŸ˜‚

I’d decided today was going to be the day I ran 5km and this would be my benchmark to start improving on my time and getting it closer to the magic 30mins.

Pleased to report I ran 5km in 34.33mins at an average pace of 6.54km πŸ’₯πŸ’₯ Tbh, I felt good all the way, the run flowed well and I didn’t feel that struggle towards the end as I did on my last run. I could’ve kept going but didn’t want to blow it!

Today was the first time I ran without Jo πŸ₯² and I must admit it did feel a bit odd just running with music and no guidance but I’d set my Garmin to a 5km run and I pressed on feeling brave .. haha.. on my own. I ran a familiar route so I kind of knew how far I’d gone and where I should be at the 4.5km mark so I just added a bit to get to 5km.

First outing with the new trainers and they are ace πŸ˜€πŸ’ͺ🏼 So bouncy and supportive and dare I say it, gazelle like?? Please enjoy the photo above said new trainers πŸ˜€

This morning was fabulous all round as I realised how I’m just loving these morning runs, being out there enjoying the fresh air and nature and moving.. and not just getting up, sitting at my desk and starting work for the day 😟 My runs really do punctuate my day in the best way possible. And as a bonus, I saw several of my regular runners and walkers out this morning and we all waved, exchanged puffed good mornings. Stopped to say hello to the most adorable Pug puppy out for his first walk with his proud owner (tried not to freak out when the puppy jumped all over my clean trainers hah) On my cool down walk home, I saw my favourite old boy Vincent out for his morning stroll and we chatted a bit, he was curious to know how my running was going. Of course, I was happy to give him chapter and verse of my C25K journey. He said I brighten his day when he sees me!! Aw 😊

All in all, a good morning and I broke the 5km barrier πŸ’ƒ yay! Hope everyone has a good running day today.

Excellent πŸ˜€ A good run really sets you up for the day doesn't it! Not sure I would've thought that in Week 1 but it's so true..

Wooo congrats on the 5k! πŸ₯³πŸŽ‰ and in such a great time - you must be so pleased 😁

Loving your trainers too, I’m planning on getting some new ones once the lockdown is lifted as I didn’t make it to the shop in time!!

Thanks, I was determined to do 5km today and when I set my mind to it, that's it! Looking forward now to improving on my time little by little before moving onto more distance (maybe!) New trainers have been such a boost! So glad I got to the shops literally the day before lockdown πŸ˜€You will have to plan a visit as soon as you can post-lockdown to treat yourself too.

Yes R4UL πŸ™ŒπŸ‘πŸŽ‰ I knew those trainers would help banish those 'meh' runs - better them getting dirty and helping you gazelle run, than sitting pretty in their box!! 🦌🦌

I know what you mean about breaking your day up and setting you up for the day. I was very guilty of getting up and then getting settled at my computer for the day and hardly moving! C25K has certainly helped with that!! πŸ˜ƒ

Now that sounds like a Gazelle run! 🦌

Well done you and that's a good time too πŸ‘πŸ»

It is nice when you start recognising fellow runners on course to have a knowing nod and wave to 😁

Even better if you find a willing volunteer you can tell all about your running adventures 🀣
